....because a mind is a terrible thing......

« on: May 24, 2010, 04:50:33 AM »

Persuant to several discussions of movie nights and movies and, in particular, cheesy movies, I am proud to announce that this coming Saturday night, May 30th at 6:00 post meridian, the Casa di Cloner will host the High Desert Hooligans' First Annual Memorial Day Weekend Cheesy Movie Festival.  We will be watching two or three (probably three) cheesy, funny, self-depricating, and eminently MSTable (is that a word?) flicks chosen by the audience at large.

First, the house rules.....
1) BYOB (soft drinks or hard ones, or a blend of the two)
2) If you're driving you shouldn't have more than two alcoholic beverages (unless you want an asswhoopin')
3) Don't be an asshat (at least no more than you normally are....duh!)
4) We'll probably order pizza or something, but if you wanna bring snacks, then bring 'em.

Now, on to movie selection.  A list of possiblilites includes.......

Blazin' Saddles ("Somebody's gotta go back and git a shitload of dimes")
Innocent Blood (Vampires meet the Mafia!)
Mars Attacks (I don't own this one, so if anybody has it that'd be good....though I'm sure it could be had at a good price from somebody's bargain bin)
The Last Dragon ("Catches bullets with his teeth!?!  Nigga, please!")
I'm Gonna Git You Sucka ("He's got fish in his shoes!!")
Zombieland ("I shot Bill Murray!")
The Princess Bride (I don't have this one either...."My name is Inigo Montoya.  You killed my Father.  Prepare to die.")
Buckaroo Banzai (Another one I don't have....gotta love John Bigbootay, though)
History of the World ("It's good to be da King")
Animal House ("Mind if we dance wif yo' dates?"_
Monty Python and the Holy Grail ("Fetchez la vache")
Anything from the Evil Dead series, but I'd lean toward Army of Darkness ("Shop Smart.  Shop S-Mart")
Bubba Hotep (Another Bruce Campbell classic with Bruce as Elvis and Ossie Davis as J.F.K.   Billed as "The King versus the King of the Dead")

Let's take until Wednesday to accept other nominations, then we'll begin voting.  Anybody got any other suggestions for Cheezy Movie Night?

Ok, but if it's his ass....

I'M NOT DOING IT!   Grin

As far as this being an annual event...

Me thinks there are too many movies for this to be just an annual event.  Quarterly perhaps?

Man, you have an odd idea of what constitutes a cheesy movie. You list at least 3 that are among the greatest films ever made (Blazing Saddles, Animal House, and Monty Python and the Holy Grail).

How about:

Cars that Eat People
Attack of the Bee Girls
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
Piranha!
Plan 9 from Outer Space

I could go on and on. Then there are the films that are simply horrible rather than cheesy, such as Joe Dirt.

If you're really set on watching very good movies with a high cheese factor, there's very little to beat Tongan Ninja, which is well worth seeking out.

If you cut out the sex scenes, Sex Trek is still the best Star Trek parody ever done.  It has Captain Quirk, Mister Sperm, Doctor Boner McCoy, Lieutenant Youwhoreyou, and a cast of cheesy aliens.  Booyah!

I'm definitely down with Invasion of the Blood Farmers.  That looks like my kind of trashy movie!!  I also loved From Dusk 'Til Dawn, which I do own, of course!   waytogo
