Actually mounted on my 907 but I know some of you have one so I`ll ask here anyway:

Alter 6-way compression seems like nothing happends, adj 1 click
on rebound very much happends, normal bahaviour?

Supposed to have 36-way rebound, I only find 22 clicks, are the rest seamless/no click adjustments?

Have a 550 lb spring, OK f 95 kg rider? 550 = cirka 95N/mm from what I`ve found.

Further investigation tells me it`s an 8983.

So,
less Penske owners here than I thought.
I`ll be looking elsewhere f answers.

Talk to Rick at Cogent Dynamics - www.motocd.com.  He's a whiz with Penske.

J.D. Hord - www.hordpower.com - is another good call too.

I have an 8983 - got mine from Traxxion. Very happy with it.

Definitely requires a lot of fiddling, riding, fiddling.

Adjustments from a previous ride had an effect, but took lots of subsequent fiddles to get perfect.

Oh, I also changed preload slightly.

Penske shocks are great.  I have an 8987 on each of my bikes.

Maybe it's overdue for service?  Penske recommends annual service/fluid change.  If you send it to Penske you'll get it back with a nice dyno printout confirming proper operation.

Was it initially valved for your bike and spring?  Also, not all shops will valve them the same.  Point is not all 8983 will be the same.

FWIW, the compression settings will be harder to discern than the rebound settings, but you should feel compression changes at the extremes of clicker adjustment.
