Lets Ride

« on: June 03, 2008, 01:50:07 PM »

OK, we finally moved in to our new house in Andover. Who else lives up that way that wants to go for a ride? I have to get new tires and replace the chain so I cant go too far until that happens. But a local ride is do-able.

Northern Andover here.  I sent a PM to an older screen name, here and at TOB.

Do you do your own work on the bike?  If yes, when you're ready for tires I have a No-Mar and would be happy to assist for a couple drinks of GOOD Bourbon.   I am still on the learning curve so it's cheap.  After I get it figured out it will be an entire bottle of GOOD Bourbon!

Start here:

You have to look a bit, but take a map and compass and go exploring.  In that area There's plenty of straight roads, but if you work at it you can find enough to entertain you for after work jaunts.  You can burn up an hour and a half or so over there.  Work your way all the way to the river and the WI side and you can burn up an entire Saturday!  I know there's better, but for convenient after work riding it will do.

Been watching for TX plates and new Monsters, I will continue.  I have a black 96 900 and my son has a yellow one.  I also spend time on a 2005 FJR.  Spent about 4 hours in the rain on it coming back from Road America last night!

Welcome to Andover!

I saw that you pm'd me in my hotmail account notice, but it never showed up here on the board... I dont go to the "other place" anymore.

I went out on Viking last Saturday for a bit. Ended up at i-35 and turned around. Not too bad for a local road, but lots of police activity. I saw 3 cops. I'll definitley have to bring a map along next time. I live by the intersection of Constance and Crosstown. We'll have to try to get together one of these weekends. Not sure if I have any bourbon at home, so we may have to do a group ride so you can point out the good liquor stores in the area.

There are plenty-o-coppers on Viking.  It's a main drag across the north metro.  You were in the right place though, there are some good roads that intersect all along there.  As you get familiar, there are several loops you can take that will yield some OK after work rides.

Go West to Round Lake Blvd (AKA Anoka County rd 9)  G Will Liquor just north of Bunker Lake Rd is the best for selection and pricing.  There are others, North Gate on Bunker in Andover is also good.

I blast through the Crosstown / Constance intersection periodically, keep yir ears open!
