Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth and Metallica are getting together in Europe for a couple of dates (Screw you people in Europe who can actually go  ;D) and they are going to broadcast one night (June 22nd) live to theatres all over the world.  At $20 here in the states I can't wait.

Thought some of you might be interested. Should be a very cool show.

Death metal?  Maybe just Slayer.

But yeah man, I saw that on Megadeth's page last week.  You can bet your devil horns I'll be at the theater watching that with flasks in hand!

I call all metal death metal even though it probably isn't and I have no idea what death metal really is. Most of that genre of music gives me a severe panic attack.

in my mis-spent youth the was one metal band.Motorhead.Then there was more motorhead ,even more motorhead and finally the most motorhead.Motorhead rocks always have, always will, they are the best.......... others dont come close. We are talking 1979-1980 here ladies........Motorhead back then were like nothing else ever and all other bands pale in comparison except.........The Thompson Twins! [laugh]

Yeah, these bands are all more Heavy Metal.

If you're a tallica fan and like only the older stuff, they play more of it when they are in Europe and should probably play a lot more of it at this show.

Although, Broken, Beaten, and Scarred and All Nightmare Long (from Death Magnetic) are just awesome live.

Also, while I like Motorhead and think they are great they can't hold Metallica's jock when it comes to live shows.  If you'd ask Lemmy he would agree.  Of course there probably woulnd't be a Metallica if there wasn't a Motorhead.

Slayer should step out and let Iron Maiden play in their place and then it'd be a perfect Metalhead show!

That's awesome!  I never liked Bush in Anthrax.  In Armored Saint he was great but he ruined Anthrax for me.

Hopefully they will put out a Blu Ray of this tour.  My facility did the surround mix for "Pride, Passion, and Glory: Three Nights in Mexico City".  I want S&M to be reissued on Blu Ray also.

Wonder which Metallica we'll see.

I wondering what you mean here?

I've seen them 14 times now since my first show in 97, and if you mean which songs are you going to hear than it will be a mix from every album. They play different songs each night. They're still the best live heavy metal/hard rock band out there and IMO the best live act still touring. I've seen many different bands throughout all generes and they still have the most energy and stage presence.  I saw them 3 times last year and those shows were by far the best I've seen them play.  What other band out there worth anything plays as many dates as they do, is better to their fans and brings it hard every night?

And let's face it, with out Metallica there would be no shows being played in theaters.  While Metallica is still relevant and selling millions of albums all of the those other bands have faded to relative obscurity.

I can forsee people doing what is now considered par for the course and bashing anything past And Justice.  I get it, I really do.  I didn't grow up listening to one Metallica and then all of a sudden they went mainstream and they were not "MY" band anymore. Oh and heaven forbid they cut their make the beast with two backsing hair.  That makes them sell outs.  I was 7 when the Black Album came out and have been in love with their music, all their music, ever since.  You know, maybe people just don't like Load/Reload and Death Magnetic (I'll give you St. Anger even though I think it has some great parts) and I'll give them that but I think that for the most part old style Metallica fans have never really given the newer stuff a shot.  There are songs on Load and Reload that are totally heavy and Death Magnetic is musically and lyrically one of their best albums.

I'll say one thing about the Napster incident.  Look at where the music industry is going and tell me Lars wasn't right for the things he did.  I for one don't think stealing is right in any way whether I come in and take something from your house or someone downloads a song without paying for it.

I want to come out and say that I'm not mad here or trying to rant but really trying to put my passion in written word here (also not speaking towards you avizpls even though I quoted you just saying in general).  I just think it is a tragedy that people who used to be fans of "MY" band and now are not simply because the music is different.

lots of musical acts do...not necessarily of the same variety...but the ideal of putting energy and a show up on stage for the masses in a heavy rotation is something that transcends the music types...Look at what the Grateful Dead did for years...what George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars do.....look past the music type and you'll see many that bring it as feverishly and as plentiful if not moreso for as longer if not a longer run than Metallica...not taking anything away from them per sey...just answering your question...

for me...what I take from music is a placement in my life....I listened to a lot of metal back when I was young and felt rather, bulletproof and was foolhardy about it...it also helped with my own self defense mechanisms listening to some of the music that I did....I can't get into their newer music because that isn't where my head is now...and the older music for me is more for nostalgia....the last time something revved me up old school...was when by freakish random chance on shuffle, "Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the Name" came on and it brought be back to seeing them at Fairfax Lake for early Lollapalooza and just unloading tons of angst....and I was by myself and started just rockin out....and part of that was just due to the fact that I hadn't heard/listened to it in many years...and it caught me at an opportune moment...

but I digress from my off tangentness here....
