I thought really, really hard about it.  I decided against it because of the inability of being painted.  Tank looks cool as hell.

isn't this one for fuel injected bikes, carbed to come later? (I am interested btw)

They have the carbed flavor listed. It's the same tank, with a different flange and hinge bit to fit a carbie. The tank's universal, so the seat cut out isn't perfectly matched to the older seats - but they have photos of it installed

-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

i'm almost tempted. i figured it'll be cheaper, and less time consuming trying to repair a dented and leaky hinged tank. beside it's a little over 5 lbs lighter (8.9lbs to OE 14.25lbs) and you'll never have to worry about rust on the inside or denting again.

the seat cut out would work in my favor since i bought a sargent seat that ended up being for 01+ monsters.

the pic that "YUU" from CA's site, i think that's a test one or something. i thought i read somewhere that the molds are polished now. so the finish shouldn't be that flat/matte color.

Right on. You could just use a newer gen seat and be done with it!

That with the aprilia tuono track fairing, and you'd be in business:

Probably is. THe point was to show how the older seats matched up was all. One can see it's a little wonky... but if it's your track pregnant dog... who cares.

i wasn't bustin your post or anything. i just said something about the finish cause it looks like the newer tanks have a glossy finish. or at least somewhat of a glossy finish.

this would have to be a undercover purchase. ya know, some of us that have a wife/GF who thinks it's crazy to spend $500+ on a single bike part.

kind of the point. Ever braked really hard on the monster, slid up on to the tank and been granted "Mashed Potatoes"? This keeps you from moving, shaped like a super bike tank.

Not really intended to pimp your ride out this way, but as a swap on for tracking the bike.

accrocker

I agree, the profile of the tank is way too tall to look right on the bike, however, crashing a $400 tank vs. $11tybillion factory tank might make it worth while. It most certainly is fugly though!

i think you are missing the point. The shape is like a sport bike tank. Its not meant to compliment the Monster's lines. Its made to keep you where you are when you are hard on the brakes. Form follows function. Just like a superbike tank.

im thinking this tank paired with a pseudo dunstall style bump stop seat and the right paint and detail would make a killer cafe bike.

something like this but modified to flow the lines of the tank and frame together a bit better.
