So recently I posted a ride for later this month.  It was a ride to a destination about 170 miles one way.  No canyon roads or anything but a nice cruise up the coast along PCH and 101.

A few people were interested, but then a couple people came along and basically said "That's a cool place, but your route sucks.  I'll go if you change the route to this route I like better."  Consequently interest dropped to zero after the multiple postings of 'your route sucks' type messages.

Is there a motorcycle equivalent of getting cock blocked?  That's absolutely how I felt after these people shit all over my ride.  I wasn't looking for the most epic canyon ride ever through roads I'd never ridden.  I wanted to get a few people together for a day trip to somewhere I'd never been.

So what do you think?  What word can we come up with to communicate when people do this to your ride?

oh yeah, don't get me wrong.  I'm going anyway.  I posted the ride so I could have someone to experience it with.

I was voicing my displeasure at their actions to them and didn't have a word or phrase to adequately describe what they did.

That's odd, PCH/101 has some of the most awsome stretches anywhere.  Not "The Snake" or "The Dragon's Tail" but very nice riding with some of the best views anywhere.  I'm thinking Big Sur, or perhaps Humboldt County.  I guess some people just want to attack the apex and don't care about other aspect of riding that can be great as well.

Of course 101 does suck in some places.  I live about 500 yards from 101 in Hollywood; not a great ride in my neck o' the woods.

while i do somewhat sympathize with the op, i can also understand how (what i assume is) his route could be viewed as less favorable.

obviously personal preference, but most people (i ride with) use that destination as an excuse ride up through ojai, across the 58, then over to the coast.

pch/101 south of there is really nothing more than a long stretch of freeway with the ocean on one side. it's just not a "fun" motorcycle route. i do enjoy it in my truck, though.

pch north of there to monterey? anytime!

...would i cockblock the op's ride? not intentionally.

(if the final destination was an interest shared by other people in the group, i MIGHT propose leading the riders interested on an alternate route for a meetup, but it's more likely that i'd just stay silent and not go on the ride.)

Sometimes you have to preempt the douche-baggery by stating up front what the ride is intended to be..... a leisure run or all-skill level run or whatever

and let them know up front you are aware there are plenty alternatives where one can burn the chicken strips off their tires and play keep-up contests all the way

making less-experienced people try to keep pace outside their skill zones

.................then when the inevitable testosterone dripper posts up a puke-on and goes on to describe the one true path to glory.....the Triple Black Diamond, Ribbon of Death, Satan's Snake, Dragon's Rectum route of routes for only manly men

just cut and paste your preemptive advisory into a reply and optionally ask him/her/it to hone their reading comprehension skills

Hey Privateer, I missed the initial post in question, though could you post it here?  Is the starting point LA?

I can't go on a lot of meetups posted here because they are for the most part 'full gear' events, and I don't own leathers.  If the timing is right and I don't have work or another obligation I'd be interested in riding.  [moto]

If you are running through Santa Barbara I'll go! If you wanna do the 101/PCH thing I'm all for it. If we take Hwy 1 up towards Lompoc we can do the Jalama Beach out and back. The road is narrow and kind of shitty, but the pay off at the end is great.

Can't say I really like group rides, especially with strangers.

group rides are fun as long as everyone keeps their distance. Ride at your skill level.
Dont ride beyond your ability to impress people becaue you will crash. Enjoy the ride and make it home to psot pics on the internet.
Now the original question, the words make the beast with two backs and You come to mind, in this case. You go enjoy yourself and have fun at your pace on the route you wanna take. [thumbsup]

Not exactly "ride cockblocking" specific, but the term that came to mind b/c it happened on an interwebz forum is "threadcrapping".

I would call it getting "Bacon Junkied". You got a nice ride etc all set up, then someone messes it all up  ;D :P

Will that be this years new dictionary entry?  Like webinar, staycation, and riffage?
