Why would riding not be allowed on a so call "Family Day"?

Sounds like someone doesn't like your interest in motorcycles as much as you do.

Sounds like you are at the peak of a Slippery Slope.

I had the same thing happen.  Wifey likes to sleep in on Weekends so Id hit the road at 6-7am.  Often, Id be back just as she was getting up.  Worked out good.

Or, trade her "by herself" time for your "by yourself" time.  If there are kiddos, shower them with attention whenever you are home.  Good luck.

Swimming in other peoples pools is great. We do that at night. She doesn't share my interest in bikes and doesn't like to ride with me (That's ok tho).
After I dropped my bike about a year ago she's been a bit nervous about me riding, I don't hold that against her. It means she loves me, right!

Thanks for the feedback, I was hoping I had not fallen off the slippery slope.

my kids have been infected by my love of my bike.  they ask for rides and i am glad to oblige.  my "family days" as it relates to the bike means i'm riding two up with one of my kids.  woohoo!

just keep telling your SO how much fun it is.  why would someone that loves you want to take away your fun?

good luck with that one.

Ciao!

Get a gym membership.  Tell your wife you like to ride to the gym.  Ride three hours with full gear...come home sweaty and talk about how much improvement you are seeing on your bench since you have been going to the gym 4 to 5 times a week.  Repeat.

Isn't that what a bike with a sidecare is for? Family day?

Riding is not allowed? I hope you are kidding...

Not allowed.. Who would not allow me to ride? The police? The FBI?

I have a friend whos wife told him not to ride, he told me this in front of her my reply was as below

"she wont LET you ride?"

"No"

"does she have a pouch in her purse?"

"for what"

"your balls"

My wife has asked me not to ride, and I usually tell her than when I'm BACK from my ride we can discuss it.

Most days for me are "family days" where I put spending time with my kids ahead of my hobbies.  Wednesday nights though are my bike night, and I take my bike out for a 3 hour ride, meet up with friends, eat out, etc.

I think if you are putting a bike in front of family, it is probably not a good prioritization.

Tell your wife that you've instituted ______ Day where she is not "allowed" to do [her favorite activity] and see how fast she calls you an asshole. Then tell her that its really no different than "Family Day." You'll actually here a sonic boom from how fast the word "asshole" comes out of her mouth.

I'm not sure I even understand the question.  Are you asking if there is a dedicated day each week where I'm not allowed to ride because it's "family day"?  If so, then no.  And it would be weird if there was.  If my riding was such a problem that we had to schedule a "family day", there'd be much bigger problems going on than just motorcycles.

Or are you asking if my wife ever asks that I don't go riding so that we can spend time together as a family?  If so, sure she does.  It's not that big a deal.  It's not like my bike or the twisties are going anywhere, so I can forego an occasional ride.  As long as I get nookie out of it, <shrug>.

As a generally rule, I try to to take either Sat or Sunday morning from about 7-10 or 11 for a rip through the twisties (no slab, no stopping to chat, just riding).  Lately, that doesn't happen every week though.  Bike social time happens at other times during the week on an ad hoc basis-- meet-ups, race watching, wrenching.  Frankly, I'd love to be able to spend more time riding, and to have the time and money to get back to trackdays and racing, but that's doesn't work with how I've set up my priorities.
