im pretty sure a cop didnt come by and purposely knock my bike over. i parked behind a big sedan and it was gone when i got back to the bike. im pretty sure the car backed into my bike and picked it up, then picked up the bits that snapped off. any advice on the original questions would be appreciated also, thanks for the advice already given.

You might be suprised @ what parts fit that model bike + how many people are parting out bikes w/parts that would fit yours....not to mention, OEM used parts are more-times-than-not pretty inexpensive, because everyone wants the aftermarket sh!t....

If you had an '01 S4 though, good freakin' luck.... I can't find squat for my bike!!! (Okay I can, but it's MUCH harder to come by..)

for some reason, ppl in NYC hate bikers.

Probably because you can always find a place to park your bike in NYC.   Grin

Bad news for me though, I've always planned on using the Monster when I move.  It will fit right in with the Guzzi V11 Sport, Aprilia Falco, and S4r that are always parked on our street. (W71st)

If the ding doesn't involve sharp creases, and the paint's in OK shape, try a dentless paint repair shop.  One here did a great job on my bike.
