Last Sun/Mon got to ride around in the dirt with Chris Carr (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Carr_(motorcyclist)). Or rather, I got passed many times by him and the other instructors while pretending I was riding!

Pulled apart the KTM to install a manual cam chain tensioner. The factory hydraulic ones are found wanting. Part of the process is to take off the valve cover so you can set TDC - no problems there. Except I found that I was one of many that had a bad rocker bearing. A bad batch came from the parts folks back when and a lot of these bikes got valve openers that had a bad bearing...

On the good side my new lower on temp fan switch got installed, some general tidy work got done and the wheels came off for their new rubber.

you thinking about sealing the rims for to go tubeless for to prevent some of the types of follies that ensued in the video?

Not really... Everything I've seen about folks trying to seal up spoke rims seems like it makes things more failure prone than the relatively rare bolt in the road.

But I might start setting aside some cash each month to fund a war chest aimed at a set of wheels from a duke. I could probably find a used set for not too much pain for use as a street/road set and skin the 17" spokes for proper sumo tracky shit... trough apparently Summit has axed SuMo days at the kart track  Angry

or you could send those wheels to Woody's and have them relace the hubs with spokes and rims for tubeless street usage  -> http://www.woodyswheelworks.com/KTM640690.html

Oooooh.

- hmmm on more reading this isn't so hot. No guarantees on the sealing of normal spoke wheels. They will build some hot tubeless spokers  but it ain't cheep by a long shot.

Looks like Alpina has something as well
http://www.alpinaraggi.it/en/catalog/50335
Though it still needs new rims and spokes.

Back to looking at the price of duke wheels...

Nope.  Get sworn in as a civilian on Monday.  Drinking and burning a smoke tonight.
