remember the "no pic didn't happen rule" . . .
There is that. But in this case the "what has been seen cannot be unseen" rule trumps it......

so, what was wrong with it?
It's missing the c-clip (or whatever it's called) that holds the switch down onto the stand. The switch had popped off and it was "open". For some reason the geniuses @ BMW decided that the bike should be allowed to crank but NOT to start with the stand down... nearly killed the battery

And after a long day's work I love a nice warm bath and moisturizing cream on my feet!
Sorry if I've upset any tummies, here's something to compensate:

Actually, his link was right. It was some issue on the hosting site...
I was forced, forced I say! to order some more tools. Really I was - the make the beast with two backsing nut on the WP forks one needs to have at to do anything has shoulders on it, that prevent a normal wrench from fitting, so I had to track down a slim profile one. In for a penny in for a Pound so I bought new seals, bushings and a 48mm seal driver.

why didn't you just take your wrench to the grinder and make it slim profile?

I don't have a full on grinder. And what I do have would have taken ages. I worked at it for a bit before deciding my time was more valuable...
my hunt did lead me to a crapy looking site FULL of nice tools
http://www.samstagsales.com/
- They seem to have a lot of the special tools for German car makes.
