The Mad King Pepe'

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.

What?  That sucks?  You've got a fireplace, right?  Let me know if it gets too chilly in there.  I've got a big comfy sofa you can crash on.
And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

I tried to install the new choke lever on the Magna, the cable is too short.  I got the battery back into the Scrambler, the second kick and the bike started.  However, the right cylinder is still not firing properly.   I'm pulling the carbs this weekend and sending them to a guy who mods them so they'll work with pods.  And the new lithium battery came, so I'll be making a new box for it.

Got the new shims, freshly cleaned injector etc etc in the KTM buttoned it all fired right up and proceeded to drool oil from under the valve cover. So back off some stuff came to address that and all is well.

Some final checks and settings then it's a bike again.

I changed the oil on the Monster myself.  Apparently Ducati changed the bolt location on the Monster and made it hex wrench removable.

The fuel leak seems to have sorted itself out on the Magna.  It was interesting riding the Monster and the Magna back to back.  The gearing on the first three gears is pretty close, but on the last three the Monster is geared higher.  Same red line on both.  Smoked a Vette at a light on 234.  I do need to practice shifting quicker, shifting the Nighthawk has not helped.

I drained the tank and pulled it off of the 74 Scrambler.  I checked the filter in the petcock, apparently one of the POs got paint in the tank since there was blue paint in the screen.  Tomorrow, I'm taking the carburetors off.

Yeah, where was the sun yesterday?  At this point, I hope dead pirates don't start stalking the area.   [roll]

Well, neither Honda got really fixed yesterday.  I didn't even get a ride in on any of my bikes.  I need to mod the Magna's choke cable to work with the new choke lever.  And I need to remove the exhaust system to get the carbs out of the Scrambler.

Brian and I made a valiant attempt at a ride but it was just to crappy out, and people were driving like dumbasses. Watched several folks nearly blast past (like 60 in a 40) a Park Police cruiser with its top bars flashing yellows in the fog. They seemed like they didn't notice the LEO until they were only about 1 car length back... really now.

I thought the same thing .. kept looking for Jamie Lee Curtis to go screaming by.

Spent a half hour on Saturday getting the Norton to start.

Then Sunday spent 45 minutes trying the same so I could ride it to the DC Norton Owners club meeting, then finally gave up. As a f-u to it I took the Harley. Of course since it was sitting for 2 months the tires were low so it handled even more like a truck, which was fun since I couldn't really see where I was going anyways thanks to my glasses / visor fogging up.

I'm going to put the stock Amal carbs back on. Everyone goes on about the single Mikuni conversion being so great, blah blah blah. If Amals were good enough for Steve McQueen they're good enough for me!

I didn't think it was safe to ride motos yesterday so I took the wife and a couple of friends pedal biking up Mt. Weather. Probably less safe! Visibility at the top was about 40 ft.  [laugh]
