Real Recognize Real

Just purchased a '97 Miata from Fredericksburg. It has old school manual windows, AC and the 1.8L engine which was important to me especially if there's a Flyin Miata or Bell Engineering turbo kit in its future. Oh yeah - circadas were in full force in Fredericksburg:(
Don't argue with idiots. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I'll be visiting when I get back ;D ;D ;D
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.

Three laps of Meadowood, on a borrowed Niner.
And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

what did you think about the Niner?  Was it a 29er/26er/Full sus/hard tail?

They only make 29ers, hence the name Niner.  This particular one is a Jet9.  Rides pretty nice, and the suspension design (main reason I'm demoing it, to try the CVA design) tracks really well.  The one detractor is that the bike doesn't seem to steer all that intuitively.  A lot of 29ers have the issue of slower steering, but this one is a bit different.  It takes a bit more effort to initiate the turn, but once you get it going it tries to blow past the the point you wanted the bike to go and into a tighter line.  The Jet9 is "known" as an aggressively handling CC race bike, and is supposed to handle very sharply, so I'm wondering if the shop didn't try to tame the steering by putting a longer than necessary fork on it.  More riding tomorrow, so we'll see...

More mountain biking.  Took the borrowed Niner down to fountainhead for about twelve miles worth.  Bike handled these trails much better than yesterday's, but I'm still not sure about it.  It definitely likes the faster trails with beamed turns, and doesn't do so well in the tight and twisty stuff.  Guess it's more of a west coast design...

Well I actually did this 2 weeks ago, but getting Internet access in Australia (at least decent bandwidth + free) is basically not possible.
