Not sure yet, but it looks like the alternator decided not to alternate.

I swapped regulators while we were out there, nothing. Put the bike on the tender as soon as I got it home, twenty minutes later and it's trying to turn over. Pretty sure the alt quit alt'ing and the battery drained to the point where it wouldn't run the bike any longer.

Of course there would be nothing when you swapped the regulator if it caused the battery to drain...putting the other regulator on there wouldn't help. I'm still in for a shit regulator...there's a really good guide to figuring it out here: http://www.electrosport.com/technical-resources/diagnosis-center/fault-finding-guide

If you don't have a volt ohm meter, I've got one or you can pick one up for dirt cheap at HF.

If the battery is the original, I would change that too as insurance.  Just don't buy the gel Bikemaster one...total junk and was trash in a few months.  I trust the Yusa batteries....I also have a Ballistic 8 cell 1.8lb battery in the track bike that works well too.

How was the ride back Ben???  No party in the backseat???

+1 to this...sorry for the suckage...at least you aren't bikeless...you can still hump the StuperDuke in the meantime...

did you test it with a volt meter and a pin probe directly into the wires themselves?...Ducati is famous for dodgey electrical connectors in terms of the regulators and wiring and you'll see things moreso when you follow the electrosport falt tracing....it was exactly what I used to figure out what was going on with the charging system on the Gran Canyon....and then I finally replaced the wiring and connectors from the RR to the Stator/Alternator...as much of it as I could...aprox 10-12 feet of heavier guage wiring...this was a contributing factor as to why I needed to be roll started by you guys at that cold Bowie run that one time....and it started snowballing from there...

1. Get a voltmeter: Advance Auto, Radio Shack, pretty much any place should have them (About $10);

2. Connect the battery so you can crank the engine;

3. Set the voltmeter to AC: alternating current (not air conditioning), symbol looks like a sine wave -- two tits, one up one down with a line through them);

4. Put one of the voltmeter contacts in each hole in the alternator wire (doesn't matter which order) connector. There's three holes total, so pick two, then test the other one.

5. Crank the engine. If the voltmeter doesn't measure any current then the alternator is no good (or you're doing it wrong  Tongue).
