How much do they charge to put a new tire on? I used to go to Colemans in Falls Church until they doubled ( Shocked ) the price.

What are they charging? Last time I had one done it was $30 - off the bike

At that same time Cross Roads cycles quoted me $35. If colemans is now $60 I'd give Cross Roads a call

About $30 + fees and taxes (~ $40), off the bike. Now it's about $70+ all included (off the bike). Huh?

I think they'll discount it a bit if you buy tires from them, but it wasn't worth it at the time since buying online was much cheaper (and I got free shipping too). waytogo

Not exactly, it was about $40 going to an expected $70, but still enough to make you think hard about doing the change yourself: those prices are for the wheel off the bike, so once you've gotten to that point I figure you might as well finish the other half of the job.

But it's not just the price hike, it's also their attitude. When the price was $30 it ended up being 30 + 7-8 bucks for parts 'n shit, like caps, lube, kleeenex, condoms and porn, or whatever... Angry

I'm not entirely sure.  I think $25 per wheel.  I often mount my own, but I need to run 220 to my garage so my air compressor will work and I'm too lazy to try and seat them with a bicycle pump.  Also, I've know the MFI guys since I was about 11yrs old and they are good folks.  I don't mind supporting them (and they often help me out without charge on things too).

I might be. Depends on the weather and a few other things. Steve and I were also discussing MotoGP plans...

If anyone wants to watch the race, B.A.D. is having a BBQ on Sunday.  Check out the facebook group for details.

aww you'll be fine.  Bundle up a little Smiley  (rain gear works well for stopping wind). I'm also a huge fan of heated grips.

Rode home from Pittsburgh in 28* in cool weather gear once, not cold weather gear. One of these freak days where it goes from 70 to 30 for no good reason. When I got off the bike to get gas I couldn't straighten my legs and I shook for almost an hour.

I've ridden virtually every day (there were a few rare days where I didn't have anywhere to go) for the past 7 years.  The last three were in Boston area.

I was very happy to be riding the last snow storm we had in NoVA.  So many cages stuck traffic was unbelievable trying to get out of DC.  It took me a bit over an hour to get home to Annandale.  On of the partners lives along the same route I take but in Arlington (about half way) and it took him 6 hours to get home.  I even rode around a stuck metro bus on Beauregard street.  Evil

A crisp 12 deg F ride around Boston one winter
