Aluminum is so pedestrian... Go tube titanium with a carbon subframe.

And have fun selling that to the wife...

With Ti you could probably more or less copy the ducati trellis frame design. Aluminum would need a complete re-design and really works best when its done in a complex manner (varying wall thickness, large thin sections etc) - it can make for an extremely stiff, light frame when done right, but I suspect it'd be easier and cheaper to do a light one-off frame from Ti than aluminum for a duc.  Just a guess from my limited fabrication experience.
