Had to pull the stator cover off last year to replace the starter and have been fighting an oil leak ever since. I have tried the gasket goop with no luck. Ducati no longer makes a gasket. Does anyone know of an aftermarket producer?

ca-cycleworks sells a gasket.

On FI bikes you have to re-shim the ignition pick up.

I was involved.

The wheels belonged to a friend.

I don't think you need to do anything else on a carbie.

FWIW, I used the gasket on my '92 SS and had no problems with leaking, but it tore all to hell the next time I took the cover off.  I probably didn't clean the mating surfaces well enough or something when I installed the gasket, but you may want to have a spare on hand the next time you take the cover off.

Massage a little grease into it and be sure the mating surfaces are clean and you might be able to reuse.

Lapping the shim or buying another one that's thinner by approximately the same dimension as the gasket should work.

Ducpainter turned me on to Hylomar gasket dressing.  It is non-setting and makes fiber gaskets resuable.  I proved this when I had to re-remove  :P  my clutch-side case cover.
