That MH900 is beautiful.
The PO of my S2R was a totally gorgeous creature that had it dealer serviced, I'll take that over LT any day.

I dunno. For me, it's not where the bike is serviced, but who services it.

A dealership is an entity with a number of people inside it that could be touching your bike. None of them know you. And it isn't theirs.

I'd much rather buy a bike from an individual that knows their stuff and lovingly maintained the bike.

Of course there's always owners who treat their bikes like crap. And there are some techs that are downright awesome that I'd be happy to bring my bike to any day of the week. But I feel like those are exceptions.

LT does have some high asking prices, but maybe he'll get his price? Then we can sell our bikes for more money. :)

I'm interested in the the ST4S, but I'm disappointed it doesn't have carbon fiber saddle bags or a titanium frame.

Why do I just see Xs in the upper right corner of a box ?

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

I'll say this, I would absolutely love to buy his Monster 900, it would just have to be about $5,000 less.

Ha! I think its best that he just knows where to find me, and if he really wants to sell, I would gladly purchase it for a fair price of around $4500. Honestly not many M900's anywhere, with any amount of mods are really worth much more than that (and certainly not in the $9500 range!)

Well I bough a set of new Surflex plates from LT.  Maybe I can say my Monster is an LT Snyder custom and raise the price to $17K!  [roll]

I find it weird that people are comparing the common used bike pricing.  Its not like L T is some random shmo.  I doubt many dealers can offer the level of tuning and care of their used bikes.

Plus, these bikes have been used to do his books.  Most have been torn down to the bolts and rebuilt with all the standard factory problems fixed.  How many used bikes off ebay can say that?

I agree, he is just a mechanic -- one that is very well regarded, published, and used his bikes for the teardown in his books.

I've met more than a few Ducati mechanics who recommended the DesmoTimes books for people to learn.  Moreover, he is directly involved with the community and writes, updates his books, and answers questions thru his website for free.  I am not saying other mechanics don't do stuff like this, but the only other mech I know of who offers this much (except hte pubs) is Chris at Ca-Cycleworks.  I look forward to the reaction when Chris offers one of his personal, maintained, and customised bikes for sale...

I have no connection with either guy, but I don't think it's fair to criticize him for not offering those bikes at typical market prices.  Buying a bike that's been torn down and built back up (and I assume not all of them) is a hell of a lot better than buying god-knows-what off of Ebay or Cycletrader or Craigslist or here and crossing your fingers that the guy didn't wheelie it every day and use piss instead of oil.

One common thing I keep hearing about Ducati mechanics (and several who sponsor this board) is that they are irritable, angry, etc.

.... I can't imagine why...

I know of one other " Mechanic  " who builds race winning Ducatis and does custom work out of his Ducshop and and he charges his flat rate for his work.

He has National Class Championships to his credit and I'm talking about Mark Sutton.

But he will charge a fair price to you or the next person for the same work whether it be building a race engine , building up an engine or doing custom fabrication.

So I don't know why one guy named Snyder should command a premium to someone like Mark at the Ducshop.
