i've never seen the ad, but then again, i don't have tv.

I do however have allstate, and they are great. I did save a ton of money when i moved to CO from MI (two cars, bike, renters)

anyways, from a film standpoint (no one has spoken from that angle yet) its a beautiful film, creepy though

I just watch the ad all the way through having always fast forwarded through it and every other add in the World Cup.  There are no instances in the ad of a car hitting a bike?  That's my most likely crash scenario they don't show that.  That's also the thing more people need to be aware of (not that it's Allstate's problem.)  The last set of accident stats I saw had moto-car accidents being far more prevalent than solo bike accidents.

Anyway, the point of all that is the commercial seems to show a few scenarios of solo bike crashes which by design or ommission lays the fault for all those accidents at the feet of the rider.  Am I wrong in thinking it comes off a little biased?

Interesting. I was surprised by some of the reactions in this thread.  I thought the ad was neat.  Nothing more, nothing less.

Like DT, I really had to admire the cinematography and the set-up -- choreographing those shots couldn't have been easy. And without a rider in the picture, it was fairly easy for me to focus on the gorgeous slow-mo

As an ad, I don't think it really works, at least not by itself -- I only got what they were talking about (medical coverage for accident-caused injuries as a part of your moto coverage) because I'd seen a back cover ad on Motorcyclist Magazine that was part of the campaign.

And I don't think this is a particularly unique selling proposition -- I'm pretty sure all the major insurers offer supplemental medical coverage as an add-on to motorcycle policies (State Farm & Progressive both do). So why emphasize the obvious "You'll get hurt if you crash your bike" idea?

Though hardly original, the whole "our agents are motorcyclists too" angle is a stronger one for me, as it focuses on some things I like about riding -- the shared experience, the camaraderie, the telling of tales -- and not the unavoidable & avoidable dangers of it. I like doing business in person at our State Farm agent's office rather than over the phone, simply because a couple of the folks in the office ride and it gives us a chance to catch up.

I like it and hate it like others on here too..

Beautiful camerawork.. Bad examples of what bike "crashes" actually look like. Insurance ads have great potential in getting it out there that cagers "need to remember were on the road too" that doesnt lay a guilt trip the way a PSA does it.

Alone? - no - where is the car that caused the wreck?  At least make it a public service announcement to tell drivers to watch out for bikes.

I thought it was a cool commercial.......crashing aint pretty.

Slowing it down like that really helps appreciate the sheer violence of it all

I imagine Allstate's goal was to make a thought provoking commercial...and it looks like it worked (judging from this thread)

Also, to offer a different perspective on this..........there have been TONS of Car Insurance commercials which depicted car crashes..I don't see cagers complaining about being disturbed by it (can anyone tell me what the difference is?) .....hypersensitive  much?

Cars, motorcycles, yep, no difference.

I actually recall a number of cagers not really liking the VW crash commercials because they were shocking and violent.
