Is it a smoker, or a 4 stroke?

Sold the pair of KX250's. Looking at just about any MX 450'ish bike for 'tard conversion. Selling the S2R next, and not sure what will replace her. Maybe something fancy. Maybe something soulless. We'll see.

Next season will be a mystery. Cya then! Cheers!

Me either... a 'clean 93 (nostalgic) or an '03+ model might interest me.  An '03+ KX125 would very much interest me - will probably get one of these or a KTM or Husqvarna 144 as my next dirty bike.

That's a heck of a deal.  Just the wheels would fetch nearly the asking price if parted and the VA titled frame is worth some $$ too.  '03 was a first gen frame and considered a slight disadvantage for MX, but I doubt it matters at all for sumo and its still plenty light and slim compared to most anything else.  Motor is largely the same up till they went FI, though it got a bit of a revision in '05.

They are super easy to start as far as four strokes go.  Almost two-stroke-like provided the valves aren't tight.

Its a bit hard to tell in the pic, but if it has the stock caliper you'll want to upgrade it and the MC for hardcore track use.  The stock setup on a 320mm rotor works ok, but isn't really intended for the kind of heat you'll see pushing it hard on the track.

Also there's this http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/mcy/2647403494.html or this http://baltimore.craigslist.org/mcy/2609380174.html, heavy but way fast.

Buying a sumo is probably cheaper than converting a MX bike.  Wheels and tires will run $1500 (for decent stuff, not Chinese crap), $500+ for a front brake and ~$600 for a suspension re-work so figure a solid $2500 for a basic conversion, then you'll want sliders and random other bits.  Also, a used MX bike will almost invariably need all new rear suspension bearings as they generally only last a season or two of MX racing - figure another $150 there.

Ha! A 2001 and a 2003 (so newer'ish and mint condition). I wasn't planning to sell 'em but a friend of a friend was looking. And, well, they didn't get out much this year... maybe 20 hours on each over the summer.

Dats very nice. But this would rob me of my winter project. Wink It sure would make a good starting point. I def want 2 sets of wheels. And my fatass needs a brake upgrade.

I dunno about the Ape... I kinda want a project. Now, for the S2R replacement, I'd consider a Dorsoduro.

So apparently Travis Pastrana lives off Governor's Bridge Road on the Harwood route.

Anybody else hear this?
