Mmm, nice vid.  Sorta gets the touring toes a bit twitchy. [moto]

Yep, know what you mean. Getting sick of the cold and wet already (and it hasn't been very wet really.)

And I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks that rider has large extremities.

I was at the Bike Factory on Gouger St, I think it was a M900 (could be wrong) lots of chrome, lots of bling, some nice little purple bits.  Tried to find the bike on their website but not there.  Spoke to ?Chris in the shop.  Nice fella.  Told me to keep in touch for when I ride over that way.  (I promise to not be antisocial if I'm on the Duc!!).  He also seemed to think the owner of said Monster may be a member here.

Yes get a streetfighter.  Then we can swap bikes when I do get over that way again.  That way I don't have to buy one.   waytogo  cheeky

Ah yes that is a M900 Cromo - allegedly not for sale, but has been on for eBay (reserve over $9k).  I was talking to Richard (proprietor) about the bike - has had a lot of work done to it - did some speed trials on Lake Gairdner a while ago - the salt destroyed the nice chrome rims, thus they have been blasted and repainted.  Very nice bike though.

Which reminds me have to take my S2R in to Richard for some valves and belts...preparing for October ride to a little island somewhere south of Melbourne...... [moto]

Unfortunately I wont be getting a streetfighter unless 1 of 3 things happen:
1)xlotto
2)big promotion
3)divorce

Well that explains the price they have on it.

I can understand 1 & 2, but number 3 has me stumped??

doesn't the husband usually (not always) get screwed over in a divorce settlement?
You must the exception Jason.

That was my point.  If you don't really want to sell something you put a ridiculously high price on it.  Is that what you're getting at?  Even if someone did buy it at that price it wouldn't cover what's been done to it though, would it?

Since there are a few of you that are attracted to this Multi-stroodle thingy ... I thought I'd post up a quick synopsis. This comes from the Redbike Tours (Ducati Tours) guys in Italy:

Quote
Multistrada 1200S - If you own a GS, KTM, V-Strom or Varadeo.......don't try this bike
Monday, March 29, 2010, 08:33 AM

Our new Multistrada has arrived and a small blast around the countryside has been performed - all in the interests of science!

So what is it like?
As the title hints, this is a very impressive bike! The engine has loads of low end and middle range power (the top end is still out of bounds as we are running-in), the suspension works extremely well, the brakes are powerful and the seat is comfortable.

Compared to a GS.......think of a GS with proper suspension, some power, put some properly grippy tyres on and make it look like something other than an industrial accident and you get close to a Multistrada 1200!

Any gripes?

The ABS cuts in too early on dry roads, worryingly so when riding it like a 1198S......perhaps not the intended method of riding for a bike like this, but unlike its 'competition' a way of riding that is easy to do. And the centrestand touches down on left handers a little too easily.

The electronics?
It took a minute or two to figure the configuration controls out but (at least when brand new) it all works really well. The difference between "150 High" and "150 Low" power settings don't seem particularly noticeable, and the soft "100 hp" option still lifts the front wheel off the throttle in first.....

How is it compared to the old Multistrada?
Improved in every sense. It looks better, its more comfortable, the engine is much more powerful and the brakes (without ABS) work better. It is an inch or so higher in the saddle (a little too tall for me in fact) and there is the issue with the centrestand - but at least it has one!

Overall
As I say above, if you own a GS or similar and don't want to feel like you have bought a turkey........don't ride this bike!

Although Joe is an unashamed Ducati man ... he is not beyond being honest - for example he doesn't like the Streetfighter and was not afraid to tell the factory. So I'd say it is a pretty fair assessment ... and in case it is not clear from his review he is a Superbike kinda guy.

Bike(UK) magazine had an article on it in their May issue. Verdict was a very impressive and amazing bike/ride. The only area they didn't fully test was on dirt, but they reckon it would match a GS on off-road using the stock battlewing(ie. non-knobblies) tyres. They also weren't too sure what would happen if you dropped it.
A mate of mine just bought a 1200 GS adventure and was awed by the 100hp it had - I mentioned the multi had 150 nad his jaw dropped.

This just in: The new Ducati Multistrada wins the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

Nice going from a new model. (Having said that, I'd reckon there's a few "optional accessories" on this bike...)  [moto]

Not what is intimated in the article though.

Yep. There's a cut-down windscreen, a tail chop, some carbon fork leg protectors, and a few other minor bits. For all practical purposes, the 1st and 3rd place bikes were stock Multistrada 1200S's. They were so far ahead that 3rd-place bike crashed near the end and still was passed by only one other bike - he'd been in 2nd place until then.
