I've been getting lots of comments on my speed, so I think I'll go for Jammer but don't know if I can handle the pressure.  ;D
Though it is really fun to slam into people, I just don't have the girth for a blocker.

speed + hitting people = outside blocker

the missus plays outside blocker on the travel team, and mostly jams when she is on the b team

new trick to try- make your hits leading with with your hip instead of your shoulder.
more weight behind it, harder to duck under, and knocks them off balance because they dont expect it.  [evil]

center of gravity FTW!
if you can get your hips under them you can throw them without using your arms. if you are shorter then your hips are naturally lower, you jsut have to be speedy to make up for the lack of height.

Some people are like Slinkies. They're really good for nothing; however, they can still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

Probably a dumb question, which I am usually good for:

Is Roller Derby making a comeback or have I been living in the sheltered midwest?

Hell, there probably is some club around here, just never heard of it.

or

Is it more of a Left Coast thing?

Derby is definitely making a comeback. It was something that was huge in the 70's and died down for awhile. New teams are forming all the time. There are currently 7 leagues in Ohio, not sure how many teams are under them, but probably between 2-5 teams for each league.

Very interesting.

Not too interested in the sport (but again, not interested in a lot of sports, so nothing personal), but glad you have found something you enjoy doing  [thumbsup]

I wish I could get back in to my sport passions, but snowboarding with a make the beast with two backsed up shoulder is a bad idea and soccer.......well........it got me to where I am, but still want to play.

Good luck and hope you find your niche in the position that best fits your skill set.   [beer]

find an old man league so you can sub out right away and nobody hits because they have to go to work tomorrow too.

I need to get my ankle fixed first or risk completely shredding it unexpectedly.

I haven't decided which I'd rather do:

1. Plan for the surgery
2. Go play soccer, challenge a player wrong by striking the ball at the same time, rolling my ankle, or anyother way to make the beast with two backs one up..........and then having surgery in a day or two.
