Can we not get this locked with polotocal talk? I want to be able to post up when I win this, and how much I'm selling it for.

Charity. You'll get a huge deduction. I've seen too many DD's on the market.

I'm sure most banks will take the title for a loan like that.   [moto]

Or work out payments with the Feds.  Evil

If I remember correctly, I don't think you can take a direct loan out to pay federal taxes.

However, I suppose if you put an equity line on your house, they would have no idea where the money was going.

but then again, is it worth shelling out 18k for a bike that has such limited use other than saying own one?

You got it right there.

Donate it to the Good Will or any other charity.

That 75,000$ tax credit will exceed what you pay on it.

I did the calculations for a friend a year ago if he hit a hole in one, he'd win a lexus, which was valued about the same.

You make out much better donating it.

then

go buy a 1098R

It performs better anyway.

Only if you're not already maxed out on writeoffs.

I'd take the S1000RR over the 1098R-far cheaper to buy.

Well yeah, that true on the write-off part. It depends what you donate each year.

I was just using the 1098 as an example since it is a race bike like the D16RR.

I personally have no interest in either of them. They are uncomfortable for me to ride as are most crotch rocket style bikes.

I'd rather have a GS1200.

OK explain this to me.

I win the D16, pay the taxes, donate it, file a tax deduction, get cash back, and buy an MTS 1200? who's the accountant handling this for me?

Just a note of clarification.

Since I own both the 1098 R and the S 1000 RR I will say they are 2 entirely different animals so to speak.

The " R " has so much mid range torque it will flat knock you off the bike , the RR , well I haven't opened it up yet but if the 1st 7,000 rpms are any indication about the next 7,000 rpms .............I don't know if I want to go there.

I found a local buddy who will loan me the tax $ up front on the following terms:

He gets to ride it a bunch.
He gets paid back the $ when I sell it + a small %.

I just hope I don't bin it an Bonneville...  Tongue
