SSS conversion on a 99 M750 Dark
«

So I'm planning my winter upgrade project for my 99 M750D and am listing the SSS as the #1 upgrade wanted. Has anyone done this to a 99 & would a SSS from a 748 work? Got the bike back together earlier this season after having the frame, light brackets and triples PC'd candy apple. Just finished putting on a custom round tail/brake light with aftermarket LED directionals. Help, comments, suggestions are always appreciated.
How do I post pics?
Thank you!

and you're gonna need a swingarm from a monster not a superbike, to make it easier.
try to search for an S2R swingarm

My single-swingarm conversion and related parts cost almost as the same as the bike cost new.
wouldnt do it again
get some light wheels instead

I agree with Jeff.
Powdercoat the swingarm, then get some BSTs (or other light wheels). Still a ton of bling with a significant performance advantage to match (unlike the SSS).

Biggest trouble w/the 888 based Monster frames (1993 to 2001) is that there is NO bolt-on SSS arm. None will bolt-on.
The 748-998 series arms require both suspension geometry changes (lots of cutting/welding on frame), as well as narrowing your engine case at the swingarm pivot to accommodate that arm.
The S2R arm does away with having to narrow your engine case but still require the suspension geometry changes (same amount of cutting welding, but IIRC your suspension pivot point is in a different location).
The Febur arm "kit" is not really an option as it's a complete pain-in-the-ass and does a serious injustice to the word 'kit'.
+1 to either lighter wheels, or just fix up the 'ol gal, sell her off and buy an S2R800.

what about an 1100 SSS with an Ohlins shock.
change the shock mount point to a direct mount by modding the frame?

It'd be about the same amount of work, just different.

All,
Thanks for your input. I guess the SSS upgrade is out the window. I will keep making little upgrades & save $$ for a new ride. Will never sell too much fun!
