I'm not that familiar with naked bikes so forgive me if I sound like a complete idiot. I intend to get a Monster 696 one day but I'm worried about how the chain is exposed just beneath the passenger's seat. Is this a safety hazard? Are there chain guards available (if that even makes sense for a Monster)? I guess I'm just very worried that it could slice or cut the passenger's legs... or am I just paranoid?  :-\

Please let me know, thanks!

you can get a chain guard, but i've never heard of a problem.  just keep your feet (or passenger's feet) on the pegs..

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Only the bottom of the chain is really exposed, just like on most motorcycles.

You're being paranoid.

This was the only 2-up picture that I had (sorry no bigger version):

If their feet are on the pegs they are plenty far enough from the chain.
