What is the deal with asking Your Wife for permission, I have never understood why. Is there a real reason why a Man can't do something witrhout asking the Wife for approval....

You aren't married, I take it....

But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

I have been married for 22yrs, have an excellent relationship with My Wife. We both have good jobs and make money, share the bills ect.  If My wife wants to spend $5000.00 on shoes, thats Her business, who am I to tell her no?, and if I want to buy a new gun, toy ect. then I am going to do it. As long as the bills are paid, agreed expenses covered, We both want each other to have what makes them happy. Yes I do understand whats going on,I just don't understand why?      Anyway, back to Gun Stuff...

My husband doesn't have to ask permission, but he does realize his wife appreciates the occasional 1911 for her collection ;)

Ok, I got out last night and shot the new rifle (S&W M&P 15-22). I shot a Winchester tactical AR-22 round and some CCI sub-sonic. The Winchester was supper-sonic and was too loud for our shooting location.
We were shooting from a slightly elevated position down to our paper targets 100 yards away. The CCI sub-sonic cycled very well and the gun was dead on left to right. No adjustment needed. The rounds were all hitting about 8-10 inches low at 100 yards. I did not bring the sight adjustment tool, so we just aimed a little high. We both were able to get a 2" group of 5 shots (open sights from bench rest).
Being able to shoot with the suppressor was great! I do have two small complaints though. The bolt slap was quite loud as compared to other semi-auto 22's. You definitely need a spacer for the threads when you install the suppressor. Both are very minor issues though.
All things considered, this is a very fun rifle to shoot. It was a great buy!

Hey, no harm no foul here. Just joking around. Sometimes not understanding is a blessing and all that is important is happiness. Not enough of that in our world. That and scooter riding, shooting guns, etc.... [thumbsup] [Dolph] [beer] [bacon]

8" low at 100 yards is right on with a 50 yard zero.  At 200, you are looking at about 48" of drop.  22s are a great way to learn to shoot long range without the long range.  Wind doping and range estimation are super critical for real accurate work.  See if you can find some Wolf Match Target ammunition to try.  Its probably the most accurate,"reasonably" priced 22 match ammo out there.  Subsonic also.  If price isn't an object, the most accurate 22 ammo I have shot is Lapua Center-X.  Probably not at all necessary for a semi-auto fun gun.  CCI Blaser is probably the best cheap 22 ammo out there.  I used to buy it for $8.00 a brick.  It shoots real well for the price - supersonic though.

Yeah, I really need to re-dope my bull barrel, Hogue stock 10/22. Last trip to my friend's west TX ranch we were dinging steel plates at 140-150 yards. I was arching in .22 high velocity rounds like it was a mortar! [laugh] Need to get it back on paper at 50-75 yards. It only needs to be a 50-100 yard rifle... max. [thumbsup] It's a tack driver at 50-75 yards.

Right now I'm looking for good ammunition to try. Thank you for the suggestions

Aguila and Eley work well and have a wide variety of flavors for different applications, both brands have consistant and reliable ignition and accuracy for the money. Very nice choice Ducrider45, have fun.

Either Eley or Lapua Subsonic hollowpoints are my favorite smallgame ammunition.  They shoot as good as most match ammo and work pretty well on squirrel noggins.  I used to shoot Eley Tenex out of my Walther GX-1, but when I got the Feinwerkbau 2600, it liked the Lapua Center-X better.  I tried the Lapua X-Act but my gun didn't like it.  I was glad as that stuff is STEEP.  My personal experiences with my rifles haven't been positive with the Aguila ammo but every gun is a law unto itself as far as what it likes to digest.  The Wolf Match Target ammo is the same as the SK Standard Match ammo, which is all loaded on Lapua cases out of the Lapua factory - the only difference is the box.

As far as the hardest hitting 22LR ammo, the CCI Velositer has to be right up there.  It isn't gilt edged accurate but it has noticeably more smack.

I have used the Eley Sport ammunition.  It is loaded in Mexico, probably by Aguila.  It varies quite a bit, lot to lot but if you end up with a lot that your rifle likes, it can be a very economical, accurate ammo.  One issue I have had with it is that some tight match chambers will not accept some of the bullets - I don't know if they are over lubricated or just plain oversized, but my FWB and several other match rifles I have won't chamber it without a struggle.  My Walther GX-1 shot it great.  I bought a couple cases of it the last time I was at Camp Perry for the Nationals.
This isn't a dress rehearsal for life - this is it!
