CZ still offers some shotguns with case hardened receivers.

are they true case hardened or cosmetically case hardened?

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

I honestly don't know.

They just list them as case hardened.

They're Huglu guns. Do they do the cosmetic stuff in Turkey?

I have actually been to the Huglu (Hurrrrlu) dealer in Istanbul and I can safely say they do real case hardening.

They also still make black powder shotguns with real Damascus barrels.  Very awesome stuff.  They have stuff they don't export to the US that is amazing. Beautiful workmanship.

Nah.  Not really unless you live in Norway or Finland.

Both the chameleon and TiAlN are PVD finishes. Richter precision did the finishes...their website has a good explanation of how the finishes are applied. Think of the gold finish on drill bits (TiN). When you add aluminum, you get a dark gray color.

Does anyone have any FHE with the Thompson Center R55 line?

I'm about to pick up an R55 Sporter and I wanna try to get as much info as I can. I know about the infamous "chamber chip" so I will check for that.

There doesn't seem to be much info on these rifles anymore, I've checked on rimfire central and spent hours searching the interwebs. It seems like a solid purchase since almost every review I read was a good review.

Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

The only experience I have with the new TC products is running 5 of the new TC centerfire bolt rifles through my Hunters Sightin Program at the local gunclub last fall.  4 out of the 5 would not fire.  The guns were purchased as packages from local sportshops, usually for a new hunter and for one reason or another, the firing pin would not drop, the bolt could not be inserted into the receiver, the bold could not be turned down into the locking lugs, the action screws were not tight, etc, etc.  Very under-impressed.

I have two original TC Contenders from the '70's and '80's.  They are great, solid, reliable and very accurate.  Hate to sound like a broken record on this forum, but get a
CZ 22, the design is far more robust than most new products and the materials and build quality are excellent.
This isn't a dress rehearsal for life - this is it!

That's the problem I'm running into, everyone is out of almost everything. And they say there's no point in ordering since the backorder log is so long, I'd be waiting for ever.

Thanks DP! [thumbsup]

Forgot to mention that, semi was one of my requirements. However, with the $450 price tag and FFL fees here in CA so high is over $600 too much for that gun?

$465 is retail and the rifle is worth every penny of that.

I'd have trouble giving 6 for it.

edit...

How much will an FFL in Cali charge for the transfer? Around here about $25 is normal, and the seller ships free.
