Making a serious challenge to the title of "Deal King"
«

My search has ended. I found a 2000 M900 i.e. for $2750. I rode it home from Buffalo. It has about 14k mi on the clock. I need to tweak the front brakes a bit because they're too "grabby", but fortunately I have someone giving me a hand with it. The rattle of the dry clutch is really rad. I figure even with new belts and valve adjustments, I'll be under my unrealistic $3000 budget. Better pics coming soon.
Mods I planned on the ride home: swapping out the CF seat cowl. Pick up a red (or red w/ white stripe) front fairing/windscreen and red seat cowl. Install amber LEDs in the frame for side visibility, maybe replace the CF clutch cover with an open cover. When I get around to it, a new cluster (the speedo lens is cracked). I MIGHT put on a new rear fender. The one I have is off right now, but is kinda cheap plastic.
FUN!

This makes me want to cry, I just spent... substantially more, on a much older, carbed m900 not in perfect condition
However, that is awesome for you, congratulations! Let me know if the CF seat cowl is for sale... or if you want to trade and paint my ugly, but intact and not scratched, regular seat cowl.... [moto]

The deal included a lot of stuff that WAS on the bike, but isn't anymore. I'll throw a post in the PARTS FOR SALE forum once I get everything sorted, including the CF cowl. I'd love to trade it for an unscratched cowl and front fairing/windscreen if I can find someone looking to swap.

That is one sweet bike.
Looking over the pic I right away recognized it.
I am the one that stripped it down and powdercoated the frame, wheels, rearsets and bar clamps black.
I put those bar end mirrors on there.
You bought my old bike!!!!!!!
I sold it to a guy in Buffalo a few years ago. Had about 10k miles on it then.
I wish I'd have known it was for sale. I'd have coughed up $2750 to buy it back.
You flat out robbed them
Deal King you are not. I will, however, promote you to Arch Duke of Dealatania.
Congrats and enjoy it. It was a great bike for me.
Is the pressure plate still red with no clutch cover?
Damn.
What are the odds...

Deals are out there.
In '05 I helped a buddy buy an '03 M800 for $2800... it has almost 3000 miles on it
-and "the" ding in the tank.
He put 35,000 miles on it and sold it last year for $4K
(and he now regrets selling it!)

He pulled that clutch and put it in a 999, so I have a clutch with 3000 miles on it and a CF closed cover. It's funny I posted a challenge to your title on your old bike! The rearsets were one of the things that really set this apart for me, so thanks for powder coating them so well. Now to head out to the BMV and get the paperwork set so I can ride the hell out of it! [moto]
oh, and other mods I want to do = Ohlins steering damper, Corbin seat

Speaking of Ohlins steering damper. . .
I used to have an (i think) SD154 adjustable ohlins unit on there. It goes from the frame to the fork on the left side (so you can adjust it while you moving if you want too)
It was a pain in the nuts getting the mounting clamps adjusted just right so that the bike had full steering travel and the damper didn't hit anything.
Before I powdercoated it, I actually drilled a pit in the frame at the exact spot i had the frame clamp (used the clamp as a guide for the drill)
If you look on the lower frame spar up near the airbox there will be a dimple in the powdercoating where the frame clamp should be.
This will save you a shit load of time if you get the same damper I had!
