New - M1100 Rear Luggage
«

Just got a new M1100 ABS and plan on doing some touring but mostly riding around town. I have read through most of the forum posts and can't seem to find a topic on occasional weekend warrior luggage. What does that mean? Something you can take off and put on quick. Most of the nice systems have mounting brackets and need something that more straps to the rear for a couple days of riding. Anyone have any advice? Saw Ducati has something but not sure how it mounts. Like the Cortech but does not look like it wont catch on fire with the pipes. Would be a huge help.

i believe someone did a post a while ago about custom making some brackets that avoid the exhaust. other than that the only luggage ive seen is the ducati performance tank or tail bags.

I have the hard bags from ducati performance... a tad spendier... but they are easy on and easy off... the only down side is the brackets remain when you take the bags off... and that detracts from the look of the bike a bit... but I love the bags themselves... work really well.

Do you have any pics? I'm curious how it looks with the bags on and off.

I've got an M1100 also and have been trying to decide on some luggage.
I don't like the look of most bags on the bike but with bags I could ride it to work more often.
I've been looking at these;

with this mounting bracket, but w/o the tail bag;

My problem with that bracket is that (from what I can figure out from pictures) if you don't have that stock beer tray and you don't have the stock rear sets, you're SOL. So I can't use it because I've got the CompWerkes eliminator and the Rizoma rears (w/passenger pegs too). I love the bags you're thinking about though!

Shit. You're right. I've got the CW fender eliminator too!
AND I am definitely gonna get rid of the passenger peg "wings" asap.
Now I need another plan.

I have the hard bags from ducati performance.
Could you provide a link to those? All I can find on the Ducati accessories site is soft bags, not hard ones.

Givi makes a hard tail bag and mount
i'd go for a strap-on soft tail bag if it were me.
i really like the Cortech sport one.

It looks like mounting brackets are a must for side bags. Looking to get away from that. Think this setup will cover weekend trips. I assume I would not have a problem with these.

Would be easy to get on and off and not to restrictive. They have a strapped and magnetic version. How well does the magnetic versions work on a Monster with plastic covers for the tanks? Thanks for the input.

have to use a strap version. no magnetic bags
the givi tail bag doesnt need to be used, i was more thinking about the rack out the back. you could put a duffel roll or anything else on the rack.

on my M696, I use Cortech's 14L strap tank bag matched with the Sport Tail bag. Both fit
really
well. I have a bungee strap net for the sleeping bag that I put on top of the tail bag. This rides high and would prohibit the use of a backpack. Am also considering the Kreiga line of backpacks for extra capacity. But back to the original topic... the Cortech sport tail bag is great!
