Local pressure is building in Marulan to close down MDTC due to excessive noise etc, (same old stuff !)

The government want people to go to race tracks and get it off the street to have some fun in their cars/ on their bikes... But their closing them all down... WTF??

But then having a car or bike to take to the track must mean you are having far to much fun for your own good...

In my own opinion nothing could be safer then a race track!

A fella a the PCRA meeting on the weekend high sided and ended up with some pretty serious head injuries, It is the scariest thing i have ever seen!

The Ambos where there within 3 minutes of the accident! Very quick...

What happens if that was to happen up the putty... That guy would be a Veggie!

What are peoples opinions on the matter?

Seeming as Sydney has ONE race track and getting anything booked there is near impossible.
Race meeting have to be booked more than 12 months in advance, that is one reason we don't have an ASBK round
in NSW this year.

Yes we seriously need another race tack or three in Sydney.
Something longer than the 1k long track at Marulan.

I dont understand why the NSW government wants to dream about stealing the Moto GP from VIC while only showcasing Eastern Creek and Wakefeild as the only bike tracks.

I dont believe that Bathurst would ever be able to stand up as a Moto GP quality circuit.

Phillip Island is in my opinion the best track that Australia has to offer...

So there you go, I did'nt know Marulan had a track.

The only thing I know about the town is that it used to be a large truck stop and the RTA's weighbridge.

Now its a not so large truck stop and the RTA's weighbridge.

You see it everywhere, They put a Track/Circuit miles away from anyone to avoid this situation, and then bright spark developers
and Council planners keep moving things closer and closer, and then it's the Track/Circuits fault when the people that moved in
nearby get annoyed by the noise. WTF!!  Huh?

I watched it up here in Cairns with the Edmonton Speedway, I remember when it was 10 mins drive from the nearest house, I have
watched over the last 15 years as the houses have edged closer and closer, and now this year the noise complaints have started.

The speedway has been there for 30+ years, and now because some Retards with overly sensitive hearing have decided to move
in near the Speedway everyone else has to suffer!

I work on the basis, Council's should not be allowing people to build near the Racetracks and Circuits, and you knew the Circuit/track
was there, you chose to live there, so you put up with the noise.

I think the problem with this track is that it was originally designed as a driver training track, however, they've also been booking track days there.

As a driver training track, the noise wouldn't be an issue.

I suspect that the day will come where we'll have noise meters at tracks, and we'll have to all ride with street-legal mufflers.  That's the situation on many European and British tracks.

I know Laguna Seca in the USA has some of the tightest Regs in the world for Exhaust noise, and it is very strictly
monitored and patrolled, no tolerance on the Db reading, your over by 1 or 2 Db and your out.

I did read some info on track days at various tracks around Australia that they will be enforcing DB limits.

And it's only going to get worse.

The Nanny brigade and the fun Police are make the beast with two backsing everyone's fun up!

down here in SA we really have only the one track, and that is a good 45 to 60 minutes away.  Unfortunately the track is out of date and only just keeping up for safety standard in regards to motorcycle racing.  We too have suffered from having a race track built in an "unpopulated area" that has now become suburbia.  We desperately need a drag strip and a decent race track that isnt a packed lunch trip - but I dont see the SA govt giving us that!  There is a new track past tailem bend now (old Mitsubishi test track) but once again that is at least two hours.

It really surprises me in the day and age that they ask what they can do about street racing, hoons, young dying on the streets in vehicles when it all comes down to education  - build a facility that allows people to be trained vehicle control, then demonstrate at said track with safety standards, but I guess that would be an intelligent and sensible thing to do, instead of merely pushing the age past 25 for P platers to have "high power cars"....

makes me laugh that my HQ Prem which has a 253 is considered "high power" as it has 8 cylinders - it wouldnt pull skin off a custard.....
