Scooter pilot takes himself out on mulholland. Foot down style (in crocs) gets his ride going all the wrong way.

man is this the SAME road that EVERYONE crashes on out west?
Jeez. We had a thread about how so many people crash there for some reason. in this case, he just used the side of his scooter as a pivot point to lift his rear wheel up, but everyone else....

I've ridden those roads back in the 70's and 80's and never crashed so I wouldn't say EVERYONE.

I don't everyone crashes there, it's just someone thinks it's a great idea to photograph/film people crashing there, so he's setup his cameras.

It definitely seems that a lot of people crash at the same spot on Mulholland, I think it may may be a case of target fixation. A rider comes up on that section of road with the metal barrier on the right and have a fear of going over the side so they hit the brakes abruptly.
I don't think it's a bad section of road, just trust the bike and ride through the turn.

Based on some previous discussion - it seems that corner picks up a lot of sand and grit, more than the rest of the road so it catches a lot of people out. But, being a right coaster I'm far from the expert on that road.

His knee? Hell, his head. If you want the slow mo he wracks it pretty well on the bottom side of the guard rail. If he'd not have been wearing it, he'd have been split open at least... and possibly much worse.
Any west coasters know if this turn is marked by riders as a trouble spot? On the Dragon, the locals do a bit of rattle can public service and write warnings (usually "SLOW") as you approach some of the tricky turns on that road. Obviously there's something written on the raod there - I'm just curious if there's anything like a warning.

That sucks...like others said, looks like he hit the fairings and lifted the rear tire off the ground. Shoulda been wearing a bit more gear.
Most seem to crash here due to poor riding skills, not anything on or wrong with the road. Target fixation, lack of countersteering, etc.

Not much sand and grit on the road there. I've been through there many many times and never had a problem with sand or grit. It's lack of skill. That's it.
The guys with the cameras keep brooms in their trucks just in case debris gets on the roadway. Nobody wants to see anybody crash, as IdZer0 has suggested.
It just happens to be a really nice set of corners close to a very large urban center/population.
When you get 600-1,000 bikes through a particular corner on a particular weekend, there are bound to be some mishaps, especially when you have more horsepower than brains. In this case, there wasn't much horsepower, and even less brains than the average squid.
If you want to get a feel for the sheer amount of traffic that corner gets on a weekend, go to rockstorephotos.com and click on photos. Then Click Paul's Snake photos. I'm not advertising for the guy, but you'll see by the amount of pics taken the amount of bikes and cars that go through there.

I find it disturbing that you're imagining me in a sauna, never mind the teletubbie aspect of it
