I prefer this to the 'S' version with its ugly little fairing. One of the few Jap bikes I'd like to have together with the Kawa W650, VTR (first model) and ... that's it. All twins btw

The SV is nice, I have the TL which is basically a faster, prettier, higher spec, but much less polished/more crude version of the same. They are fun bikes and the 90 deg twin in them is an excellent motor - comes in between a 998 and 999 in terms of performance (but nearer the 998 than the 999 - this was verified at a dyno day). Stock rear suspension is truly terrible, but there's plenty of aftermarket fixes.  Stock forks are a little soft, but not bad.  The ducati superbikes handle a little better I think.  The TL has a bit of a raw, crude feel about it that I find most endearing.  Its probably not as reliable as most japanese bikes, but I've done 60k on mine without any real troubles.  Its starting to have electrical issues, but many of those miles were in the rain and snow and the harness is quite corroded now.

What's a good price point for the 620 on teh craiglist? Ducati dent, termi slipons and stock cans as well.

Out of the three that you posted, I would go for the Daytona.  I had one for a while, and it was a VERY fun bike once the suspension was set up.  Not trying to say anything snide with this at all, but you will need to figure in the cost of a professional set up for the bouncy bits on that bike Jim, and might want to consider different valving for the fork.  Once set up though, LOOK OUT! 

I would walk from the 999.  It's an '04, so had the less desirable motor and swingarm.  Also, the repaint, rearsets and grips makes me think the bike went down.

The Bimota is...  Well, a Bimota!  I'd love to have one, but I don't think I would buy that one.

Go with the Daytona!

Still, I'm kinda torn since it's the SB not a DB. Although I suppose the jap parts are cheaper/easier to find than those lazy italians sending things over by slow boat when they get around to it...

Bimota - wow, super cool but as pointed out getting parts might be a beyotch. Although we do have DucPond nearby and Battley, both familiar with these. GSXR motor = good. 600 = meh. Still, as Lars points out - it's a Bimota!

999 - pass, as already pointed out it's been painted, which means red flag!

Triumph - triple = nice!, black = nice!, price = don't know, is that a good price?

Sure you wouldn't rather have a Buell Ulysses?

I'd stick with v2 Bimotas.  The SB8R has a lightly tweaked TL1000R engine which isn't a bad lump - great character and performance just slightly ahead of a 998. The 4cyl bimotas tended to use older-generation motors and I'm not sure performance was all that great, but I don't know as much about them.

The 675 looks very nice. 

Another twin you might look at is the honda RC51 - its a great one and dead reliable. This one is tidy but a bit over-priced
