We start our story with our hero ready to depart on his big adventure.
A couple of laps in, our hero is spotted going unexpectedly slowly.
Round the next turn, our intrepid hero makes the decision that using feet might actually be faster.
After parking the bike some way from the track, in a vain attempt apparently to get away from the photographer, a period of counseling ensues. Our hero tries to convince his shiny new 999 to start. Apologies are forthcoming for any rough treatment. Even incantations to Marelli, the god of Italian electrics, fall on deaf ears.
A short while later, some nice young men with a van and trailer arrive to rescue our intrepid hero.
Our hero's trusty steed looks somewhat forlorn, coming back on the trailer.
Back in the pits, the priests of Marelli clearly know some more powerful incantations. It's rumoured that a virgin was requested, but this being ozmo, none were forthcoming, so jiggling connectors and replacing fuses had to suffice.
And the story ends with our hero back on his steed, tearing up the track, having sworn a vow to never offend Marelli by washing his bike again.

What a great day.
Besides a few woe's for Betty's new machine which turned out to be a bunch of bad connections.
Everyone had a flawless day day otherwise, except for Vince of course who spent more time pulling
his bike apart than riding it.
Now lets see some of the evidence from Suzyj and Monstar_100 and J5 who came along to snap the action.
luckley the company made up for the horrors my 1198 delivered today. Not even the Smart wanted to play .
Nether the less i still had a great day

Just got home ... thank you to everyone for a good day.
I have heard that when you lose your virginity, it is often clumsy, a little painful and quite embarrassing ... sums up my first track day I think. Is it wrong that I actually enjoyed the trip home on the Old Road more than my time on the track?
Nice story Suzy ... I've never been a hero before.

Thanks for the pics folks.
Nothing wrong with that Betty, sometimes the first time doesn't feel good. Next time round you'll know what the
day has in store for you.
And if you don't like it well nothing wrong with that either, the track is not for everyone.

It certainly wasn't bad
... but I really enjoyed the trip home
- less traffic than the track at that time of the day.
I would also like to extend my special thanks to my pit wench
and the 'Highpriests of Marelli'. I can highly recommend that if you are going to encounter electrical gremlins, a track day where the big red bus is there is the time to do it
.
Note to Vince: Richard came back later to check that he had re-connected the rear lights ... he was relieved to see that he had
. Don't worry I set him straight

I confess I was watching you pretty closely all day, 'cos I'm using you as the prototype for my upcoming first track day. I thought you looked really good - you were certainly one of the smoother riders in your group. It makes sense that the old road is enjoyable, as that's one you're really familiar with.
And of course you're a hero - it says so right under your name thingy - hero member.
