when tequila comes to visit, usually someone brings it... i just mix it...

i only mix bourbon with cola...scotch, water and ice...

single malt= only made from malted barley

a blended whiskey can be made from spirits distilled from any number of sources (grain, malt, corn... for american...)

single malt scotch is just that... malted barley from the source distiller, in addition to the local laws (stills, technique, water source, etc), and a product of scotland.

and even when you look at single malt scotches, you've got islay, highland, speyside... even the japanese make single malt whisky (although they tended to have copied the highland/speyside style)

thanks for the explanation...but, i was 'educated' that scotch shouldn't be mixed at all, drinked with a side glass of water if you want but no mixing....but, gotta go with the crowds...
