Aerosmith's Joe Perry rear-ended on Monster 696

Perry was on his 2009 Ducati Monster 696 according to the AP.
Retiree cited for rear-ending Aerosmith ax man Joe Perry
A 62-year-old retiree was cited this afternoon for rear-ending acclaimed Aerosmith ax man Joe Perry’s high-end sport motorcycle with her car in Middleboro.
Perry, 59, of Duxbury, who’s expected to take the stage at Fenway Park [map] Aug. 14 in a highly anticipated reunion with troubled frontman Steven Tyler, reportedly suffered only scrapes in the 2 p.m. fender-bender at Routes 44 and 105, but was taken by ambulance to Morton Hospital in Taunton as a precaution.
Police and firefighters said Perry, who was astride a Ducati when Linda O’Brien of Middleboro allegedly drove her Chevy Malibu up over the bike’s back tire, was apparently wearing a helmet. The Ducati was picked up by friends of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist.
Middleboro police Officer Bradley Savage called the collision “a very minor motor vehicle accident.”
O’Brien, who was cited for following too close to Perry, was not hurt.
A preliminary investigation suggests she hit Perry after he stopped at a traffic light and stalled out when he went to drive forward, police said.
O’Brien has a spotless driving history, save for a 1999 accident in Middleboro for which she was found to be at fault, according to the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
Hospital spokeswoman Holly Merrow said Perry was treated and released.

"high-end sport motorcycle"
They wouldn't say that about Tyler's ride. Have you seen the POS he riding/ selling. The Dirico is like built on a Harley, but at twice the price!
Let's just hope Joe is Back in the Saddle soon.

Thats on of the problems with the torque of the twins. You almost are afraid to "give it" in fear of lifting the front, so you compensate with a light throttle thus risking the embarassing stall.

What the hell is he doing on a 696? He could probably afford to buy Ducati outright. How about a Desmocedici, or something in an R model. Come on Joe, you don't build a rep like that to get practical in you latter years. Even if you are 109 years old!

Maybe Joe is enough of a 'personality'...
that a 696 goes fast enough for him.
not everyone has SBK sized egos...
like you and I.

Maybe...
maybe I am...
or you are...
this is the internet after all.
On second thought...
He can't be.
He got run over by a car while riding, albeit ineptly, his bike.

I can't say I've never stalled at a light. That same thing scares me about doing that. I guess people actually do get hit sometimes in that scenario.

I guess you are right. I would have just thought a man that made his legend while wearing black leather pants a silk shirt, with lacey cuffs, would have been more influenced by himself. Kind of like him showing up for a show with a Fender Squier, instead of his Les Paul. I would imagine it would have been close to the same results, but just doesn't feel right. If I had to pick a Duc that would best fit the scenario, it would have been a Paul Smart Classic, with the funky Zard exhaust.
Also, in line with your point. He could have test rode an SBK in said leather pants. 15 minutes would have turned his nuts into Sizzlean (posers only get a fake bacon reference).
OK, I am fully into my Sat. morning hangover and ready to stop over-analyzing.

Yep a 14t would have helped.
I watched this happen to an off duty LEO a few months back. She was just sitting at a red light and BAM! got rear ended.

This happened to a guy I was riding with recently, but the driver in this case was 85. The difference was the rider didn't stall, but the old lady was oblivious the rider was in front of her and just saw the green light. It broke one exhaust can and the insurance wrote it off as a salvage. The rider was able to keep the bike up through all that. I was pretty impressed at the recovery skill. I was pretty unimpressed that old ladies that can't see motorcycles in front of them can drive in Ohio.
