Saw it Saturday Morning in Imax.

I wouldn't say that I absolutely loved it but it was very good film.  Thought it would be different and was pleasantly surprised.  Ending was very good and very suspenseful.

Parts of it dragged in the very beginning but other than that it didn't feel like I was sitting through a 2.5 hour movie.

I thought Leo was awesome as always but was waaaaaayyyyyyyyy better in Shutter Island.

I was pissed watching the credits roll!  Movie was Really good.  I told my wife I thought it was the "new" matrix.  Streetfighter had a nice couple of scenes.  Story played out well.  I will definitely rent this one and watch again as soon as it comes out to redbox.  Another thing I noticed was Ducatis featured in movies in the previews.  Tron has a Sport Classic in it and Wall Street 2 has a Streetfighter.  That makes 4 movies this summer with Ducati bikes featured in them.  Add Yes Man from a while back, and I have to give a big round of applause to the guy in charge of Product Placement for Ducati!!!!!! Dream or not a Dream  :o

I personally think the Totem will fall since its loosing rotation even though the kids did not age and are wearing the same clothes.

We are told the Totem rule in which case if it is not true then you cant believe anything in the movie so I believe he is not dreaming or the movie would have been pointless with false rules.

What do you think ???

regarding the totem, doesn't it only tell you if you're in somebody else's dream? so even if it fell, he could still be dreaming. i think the more important point is that he walked away from it (to his kids) like he didn't care if it fell or not.

aside from that, this is a really interesting read:

Yeah the Totem is for you're own dream so that throws that idea out the door.

For some reasons for me at least believing that he is not dreaming makes me feel the movies intent is more clear.

Other theory's I have read are that there was a inception being performed on Cobb as well.

But how well the movie was written, acted and Directed you can come up with Dozens of Theory's that can all hold water.
Damn you Nolan  [evil]

Wow..I was so pissed about them not showing whether it fell or not, I did not even think of that.  We did discuss the fact that the kids had not changed in age or dress.  I figured he was going to stay with Mol or Mal or whatever her name was.

Just saw it. Great movie. I liked that they kept the story line somewhat complex and didn't ruin it by over explaining everything as is often the case.

Just saw it last night in IMAX.  I liked it a great deal, very intelligent plot, I thought the storyline progressed well, visually stunning but not obtrusive in the use of cgi; and being an audio engineer I always listen to the sound mix and editorial pretty closely.  Richard King did an amazing job on the sound design, and Lora Hirschberg and Gary Rizzo did a great job on the mix.  This will probably be another nomination for all 3 of them at next years Academy Awards.

I'll probably go see this in the theater again before buying it on Blu Ray and watching it another 10 times.  It will also be fun to read some analysis on the plot and the ending.  Awesome cast too, especially Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

If only Ellen Page wasn't in it.  She walks the same way Julia Robert does, like she's wearing size 28 Timberland boots.

I agree. I don't think she was the best choice for the role. I thought all the acting was fairly strong minus her performance.

Just came across this on wwtdd, pretty funny.

"Scrooge McDuck comic book from 2002 that tells the story of criminals who break into Scooges dreams to steal his secrets. Scrooge and Donald just want to go home, but the physical world around them is constantly changing and shifting.

If that sounds like the plot of Inception, it should. Christopher Nolan just replaced the Beagle Boys with Leonardo DiCaprio and then made it all fancy by spinning the camera around and shit."

It's like the matrix in that it deals with epistemological ideas. Inception was unlike the matrix in that it was a really good movie. I thought Ellyn Page was fine in the role, although a bit stiff. Her character would have been a bit stiff though, being a neophyte in the dream engineering.

I thought it was a decent movie but not astounding. I don't get why people are so stuck totem at the end. It just plain didn't work if you wanted a close on whether or not he's in a dream. Feels like the writer got so caught in making a mind bender ending that he confused himself and made too many contradictions.

The totem is shown twice. The first time it's shown, it looks like it's gonna fall almost right away after he spins it. Note that it also ran quite a bit whereas previously it would stand still immediately after being spun. That's why he walks away. The second time it's shown, it's stopped running but it's wobbling. Previously when they showed the totem, it wouldn't wobble at all. There's a couple problems with this either way. Either he's in the dream because the totem didn't fall over even though it looked like it was gonna and magically regained stability or he's not in the dream because it's wobbling and going to fall over even though it should have fallen over already. It doesn't work either way.

Skipping that, the kids haven't aged in how many years and are wearing the same clothes.

Also, I thought they said that if you died, you'd go to limbo and there'd be nothing there. Why is there a world? Better yet, why are there two worlds, one world that Saito goes to when he dies and one world that the other guy goes to when he dies. And of course the main character can survive and jump from dream world to dream world without any equipment even when one world is falling apart and they previously needed equipment to get around.

Derby's got it in right, though, in that it's not supposed to matter whether or not he's in a dream. He doesn't care because he's happy to just spend time with his kids.

The clothing is actually different, though very similar, and they seeemingly haven't aged.

Another thing to take notice of is Cobb only wears a wedding ring when he is in a dream, and he is not wearing a ring in that final scene.  Perhaps that is a hint to say he is in the real world, and the totem will eventually fall over.

I'm trying to figure this out, because Cobb said you can't kill yourself or you'll go to limbo, but he and Mal did it after he performed inception on her, and Ariadne jumped off the building in Cobb's dream.  Perhaps you can if you're deep enough in the dream.

Saito went to Limbo because of the gunshot, and Cobb because of the crumbling buildings.  They go to the same Limbo because it is a shared subconscious

I really like a movie that keeps me thinking long after watching, and Nolan is far too good of a filmmaker and writer to make major continuity errors.  I'm sure it all makes sense, it is just complicated and not all explained in perfect black and white.  I hope there's a book in the future.
