When I launch the VDST software, it connects to the ECU, however when I go to the "Active Settings" menu and select "Idle Trim" and then "Trimmer," I get an "error: ECU not responding" message.

Any ideas?  Will this function not work with the DP ECU???

It should work - works with my DP ECU.
Is your bike running when you attempt to adjust the idle trim?  It needs to be (not just ignition "on") . . .

There’s a lady who’s sure all that glitters is gold . . .

Yes, and the software indicates initial connection to the ECU.  Only when I go in to adjust the idle trim does it disconnect.

Also, I can see my rpm, engine temp., throttle position (which is wrong), etc. with the software.

Maybe try to disconnect/reconnect the plug to the ecu? I had troubles when I first started using the VDST software, I just kept fiddling with it and made sure all connections were solid as well as restarting the software.

When I hook it up I attach the +/- to the battery then connect the ecu without it hooked up to the computer. I start the software and as soon as its up and running then connect the usb from the bike to the PC. I do it the same way every time.

I also find that when I set the fuel trim, save it and go to the gauges/meters window that it disconnects but the fuel trim has been saved. Weird but it works I just have to hit the connect button again.

Well, I have either a computer problem or more likely a connector problem.

The software/computer continually disconnects and connects.   :-\

Feck.  I hate PCs, and its an old one too.

I'd download the driver for the usb connector and reinstall it, it might help. When working on the bike I also make sure the only program running is the VDST software. The only other thing I may have open is the pdf service manual for my bike.

I'll try that, thanks.  But I'd like to try it on a newer/faster PC.  The one I'm using take forever to boot up.   :P  I wish I could use my Mac.

OK, Keyspan adapter settings changed via the other thread's instructions, but still no go.   ???

I'll borrow a buddy's PC with Vista and see how that goes...
