Apparently these things are hit or miss in terms of fit. Has anyone took a grinder to theirs to thin out the metal so it doesnt rub the chain? This would kind of defeat the purpose but would be better than nothing i guess.

If you have a 15T front sprocket (Like me) it may rub a little.  You can try to bend it in the right areas to make it fit better.  Mine use to rub just a little bit, but I think the chain did the work on it's own, thinning out the area.

Make sure you have the right one... there are 2 of them. DS1000 and non DS1000.

aside from that, ive had 2 of them, one in a 900 and another on my DS1k, they both fit spot on with a 15T.

Yeah at first I thought I had the wrong one, but ca-cycleworks explained it to me. It is the right model, just fits tight. I guess i'll mess with it.

Also heman, I used the mikes xs chain presser and riveter...it worked ok until it broke.  [bang] I can probably fix it though. If you buy a chain tool buy the $100 one and don't look back.

Yup, really tight fit. After you get in on the first time it'll wear out a bit from the chain and be just fine.  :P
ErkZ NOT in SLO w/ his '95 m900!
The end is in sight! Gotta buckle down and get to work!

How did it break? i know 3 guys who own them and it works great. Ive used it on 2 chains, and they've used it on countless other chains too.  If you snapped the pin, then your using it wrong and its just an $8 mistake.

Airborne

yeah i snapped the riveter pin. i was able to finish riveting with the broken part anyway. They sell just that part?

Mine is tight, bought for a 620 w/14t it was fine.  Running on a 900 w/15t it rubs, seems to have clearanced itself.  I'm not concerned about it.

Yea, the pin is replaceable, they snap if you apply to much force when the pin isnt set perfectly. This happens with the $100 did tool too.

Part #35-0007 on mikexs.

I've got a case saver on my S2R1k with a 15t front sprocket and fit fine.
