If you read the article, I love how it started cracking down in 2006 when, I quote:

Since 2006 â€" when a student died of an overdose of alcohol, cocaine and heroin in his dorm room â€" university police have been hauling underage drinkers to jail rather than simply giving them a ticket. School administrators call a parents on the first offense and suspend a student for two semesters after the second alcohol violation.

I wonder if the heroin and blow had anything to do with his death? Maybe they should look at their drug issues (if there really are any, I have no idea) instead of hauling a kid to jail for drinking.

Boo ya, Ohio University is number 2.  They must have read my story in the "Your best story" thread   ;D

Pretty cool that both of the top 2 party schools are in cities named Athens.

Jay - Did you go to OU for a while or just partied there with friends that attended?

Based on your story.......I wouldn't be surprised if you did go there and lasted a semester or 2  :-*

Nope, as my father liked to put it I "was a weekend student at OU". For about 4 years while my friends went there I was down there at least 2 weeks a month.

I can't believe Chico State didn't make the list. I partied there with friends once and barely made it home alive!  [laugh] $1 Sierra Nevada pints at The Bear FTW!

I am surprised a lot of schools don't make the list.

I've read the criteria on how they "rank" the schools and it can get pretty skewed.

So if you have a University like I went to (Butler) that NEVER tickets students for drinking........we wouldn't even come close to making the list as that is one of the biggest baseline indicators. Butler had its own Police Department (actually a real one, state sanctioned, etc. It wasn't just a "security force") and you could walk up and down the streets with a beer and the cops would just roll on by. I became friends with several (re: my awful decision in the Best Story thread) and they would even stop and ask what the beer of the night was when they would spot you.

Hell, if you were too drunk to make the maybe 1/4mi walk back from some parties or fraternity, they'd hook you up with a lift  [thumbsup]

I am guessing it isn't like that anymore.

Reno Police would do that as well if you were by the University.  [thumbsup] They'd even stand on the sidewalk during large fraternity parties just to make sure no one stumbled into the street and got ran over.

I was once asked if I needed a lift back to the dorms by a Reno cop as I was carrying my passed out buddy home from a party. He's 6'2" and I'm 5'9"...so it probably looked funny as I was carrying him over my shoulder as I weaved my way down the sidewak. I declined, but it was a nice gesture. Just after the cop left I fell over, dropping him on a wrought iron fence. Another friend then picked him up and we continued on our way.  [laugh] [beer]

Woooow...if they factor the schools ranking as "best party school" by the number of tickets they give out for drinking then something is seriously make the beast with two backsed up with the world. That's it, I'm not having children.

Texas is #1 !

Ohio U. is # 7.

According to Pubclub.com.

I would have thought Miami U. at Oxford , Ohio was ranked 'cause when I was there that's all that seemed to go on.

Back in the early '70s I spent many a weekend at Ohio U.partying 'til the " smoke " cleard .

That's awesome.

Butler Police did the same sort of thing. Around the University outside their "jurisdiction" I heard many of stories of Indianapolis Police letting students off on DUI's and turning them over to the Butler Police who would give them a cell phone and go:

"Alright, you have 10 minutes for a 100% sober friend to drive your drunk ass home or you will go to the Marion County Jail and you definitely don't want to go there"

Never happened to me, but some friends got that treatment. I am not condoning drinking and driving as I thought they should have been arrested, but whatever. It was what it was.

I think anyone could make the argument their school was the biggest party college/university.

If you are basing on stupidity, in 2001 Butler should have one it.

One of my friends was playing the game "caps" (where you sit about 5ft apart and try to throw a bottle cap in a solo cup with beer)

Well, the dumbass swallowed a bottle cap and it got lodged in his throat.

He had an open airway and morons kept trying to get him to throw up to get it out. I was sober that night (I just had shoulder surgery #2, so I guess I was impaired on narcotic pain meds, but no alcohol), so I had the idea that it was dumb to do that, but the kid kept saying his parents would kill him if he went to the hospital, blah blah blah.

Well, a pledge sober driver took him and it took the doctor several attempts to fish that bud light cap out of his throat.

Needless to say, caps was banned from the house moving forward.
