It's a nice list [clap], just hope we don't see these roads go the way of Rt 211

Close to DC...

You missed a few

Outside the city, in VA and WVA...

You missed a bunch

Out of state, to the north and east...

But have you been to SE Ohio?

Keep it on two ;D

Ok, you can't hint at all these good areas without volunteering to lead me through some of them.   ;D

Ya, I know, there's always a risk in publicizing roads. I must say, though, the heat this summer has kept all of these roads quiet. Expect a peak in mayhem once the temps drop. And there are a couple of new wineries/vineyards out near Marshall so there will be uptick in weekend traffic on those roads once people discover them.

It's a shame; I have never been to Ohio. Ever. It seems like one of those states you just pass through on your way to some other destination. But you've got me curious.

you have to get "on his list" to which he is very protective of sharing his routes and road knowledge....but Gene KNOWS "a few roads" as he would say...

and S.E. Ohio has some very surprisingly rewarding roads much to anybody whom doesn't know's surprise...to which I thank you once again Gene for that revelation.

Well I hope I'm not spilling the beans, but rt 555 in Ohio is awesome. A friend told me about it so I made it part of route back from the Indy MotoGP round last year. Very twisty rolling Ohio farmland. Very little traffic on a Monday. I think I saw a couple of cars, a horse and buggy (you're in Amish / Mennonite country I believe) and 3 motorcycles. And they were together. Every turn I couldn't believe how this thing was hidden away in what I thought would have been flat Ohio. You pick it up in Zanesville and it ends down by Parkersburg. I've never been to the Dragon or all these other places people go on about, so I can say this is the best stretch of road I've been on in the US.

Well that's one of them but trust me there are better ones, a few from here have gone with me over there and I've shown them some of them, but not all and every year brings new discoveries. I just got back from two forays over there, the AMA VMD which was a little sedate since I was with the Love of my life on the ST3 and then the following weekend 3 of us went back for the Superbike Races. I took the M900 cause the S2R - uh had some residual required maintenance from a little adventure earlier this year, we rode over Friday trying out some new routes to Lancaster, then Saturday spent the day on some of our favorites with a few new discoveries, and for the first time a bad one(Rt. 284) thrown in. Next time I'm going over is on my way to Indy GP but that will be more of a fly through. I might be persuaded for a little jaunt, 3 day, over in Mid-September, limited to 5-6 riders.  [evil] - Gene

Well it's riding season so I'm gone most weekends and lately 2 of my clients have been keeping me busy, so not much time during the week except for my little meet-ups with some of the guys at our watering hole. This weekend, retreive my S2R early from Ducpond on Saturday then headed to Pro Flat Track race in Hagerstown on one of the Vics. Sunday not sure might go look at some property out by Winchester. Following weekend headed to VIR by way of some of Virgina's finest two lane treats. So might be up for something the weekend before Indy, send me a PM. I start early and ride all day. BTW, what is your riding level? Any Track Days? - Gene

I've been to quite a few track days, but it's been a while.  Not since I moved away from Europe that is (seeing how track days do not exist in Hawaii), a little over three years ago.  Been riding for about fifteen years off and on (more on) in total, and am some what experienced.  My main handicap is that I have only been in the area for about two months, and am green to most of the roads.  With that in mind, all I really need is a good line to follow.

Now there is some roads, I had a ball over there for 6 years, went to all the GPs for 2 years when King Kenny was kicking butt. I also have a picture of Fast Freddie at SPA when he won his first GP, he has it heeled over with that white belly pan showing - a perfect place for a signature but I don't have the negative and do not want to ship the orginal to him, been carrying it with me for 3 years now hoping to get him to sign it at an AMA Superbike. Man you could blast down the Autobahn to get to the good stuff and on some weekends I would go hang out at the old Solitude ring, which was about 20-30 minutes from my apartment, and try and follow some fast guys on some really nice bikes. Someday I'm going back..... - Gene

Another road reasonbly close to DC is Sleepy Hollow over in Falls Church/Bailey's Crossroads (pick it up in 7 Corners). I hit this road regularly on the long way home from work.

Might sound kind of creepy, but I'm in love with a road....Patuxent River/Harwood...so curvy, I had to ride her more than twice!
