As investments go, motorcycles are probably not the best bet unless you plan on enjoying them along the way. Then, they are an excellent investment.

LT did say bikes are a very bad investment.

The time one would have to wait for a certain model to appreciate to the price that it cost new would be a long time, better to invest in Equties or Real Estate. ( not taking into account the events of the past several years " Dolph " )

LT posted in his blog that he got divorced recently after a bad breakup.

I don't know anything more than that, but read into that what you will.  I don't know him personally at all, but it seems from the blog that it was a pretty bad situation for him.

Dave emailed from MCN that he's finally going to run my motorcycle collection article a full 2 years after I submitted it. He thought the story was fantastic. I wish he would have read it when I submitted it. The end of the article warns about the dangers of focusing on material things at the expense of a relationship. Gee, I was a bit prescient about that.

A lot of people have been asking me why I'm selling off many of my bikes. This isn't a knee-jerk reaction to the Odyssey I've been through. It's a just a realization that you can't buy happiness with material possessions and I decided I have too many toys.  That's it, plain and simple.

Odysseys are rarely anticipated. I know my latest one wasn't. It began on April 3rd of last year, 14 months ago to this very day. That day signaled the signing of my divorce decree and the beginning of a 14 month Odyssey. When such Odysseys are complete, it's usually time to take stock to see what was gained and lost.

I started collecting in 1972 w, a 1969 Porsche 911S, and my last car was a new 1995  Porsche 997 CarreraS.

I sold all the cars a couple of years ago.

Lost big time .

Easier said than done my friend.

I,  under the advice of a Finacial Planner had been long the Market since 1977.

I had a small Fortune by the time the Dot.com bubble burst.

Then nothing much until the market climbs up and up to 14,000 in Aug. of '07, and I'm long all the way down to 6,600 ,..... then I get out ....I can't stand loosing anymore money.

Another small Fortune lost.

How many " small " Fortunes can a person loose in one lifetime ?
