so I posted about ending up in jail for reckless driving (120mph)
(it was closed due to some idiot)

anyways, I got out of jail right away by postng $550 bail.

I went to court today for arraignment.

The court room seemed like college class. the judge was very nice and less strict in conversation.

she explained, if I say guilty, the fine would be $550. I paid it already so I didn't have to pay anything.

I wanted to forget about this by pleading guilty but I worried about that going onto my record

so I didn't plead guilty.

I am going to see if they can offer me some option (taking class) to take that off the record

So did you plead not guilty or no contest ?

what state?

I was not aware you could be arrested for excessive speed. Same in all states?

This scares me.  Grin

+30 over in CA is reckless driving and you can be arrested at the officer's discretion.

Could have been near the end of his shift and he didn't want to deal with the paperwork.

To the Op sounds like you did not head any of the advice provided to you from your first thread.

Typically you give up the right to traffic school when you do not plead guilty. I find it surprising the judge did not clarify that at your arraignment. About the only thing you can hope for at this point is that the officer doesn't show at your trial.

Nevermind when I saw "california" everything became clear.

Here in PA there are no such problems. Forgot to mention it was 35 over in a school zone (I was 17 give me a break)

she just explained that the prosecutor had to carry the burden to prove I am guilty.
she did not mention any traffic school options.
she said the fine won't increase even I go to trial.

I mean, there is still pre trial. I can talk to prosecutor about how I felt dumb about what I've done and ask if they could give me mercy since it's my first time.

some people said, it would be better to ask for jury trial since it will cost court more than I have to pay.

BTW, I think I pissed off the cop by not saying honestly how fast I was going.

he asked me couple times how fast I was going and I was like 'aaaaahhh, 100mph.........'
I think I should've said '120mph, I am sorry'

I can see where this thread is going already. For the OP I recommend quit the thread now.

I'm still mistified someone thinks you can not be ticketed for excessive speeding.

What State (s) allows that ?

6.3  Members will not start a thread with the intent of continuing the topic of a thread that was closed or removed.

This normally will get you a suspension.

Since you're going to pay a fine already I'll give you a break.

DO NOT do it again.
