Sorting my M900 and as I was cleaning/lubing the stock (1996) throttle cable, I just could not get it to feel "smooth".  Comparing it to my S2R throttle, the M900 feels tight, almost stiff and 'gritty' despite it being clean.

Now, yes, I know it is 14 years old and likely in need of replacement.  But as I have clip ons and am using a Brembo radial master brake, the throttle lines don't have a lot of room as the lay over the brake unit.

My main question is if any superbike (748/9*6, 749, 848/1098) throttle assemble would work.  And. . . . if it would sit further off the handlebar for better routing.

Any pointers from anyone who's running clip ons on their Monster would be a big help.  I know some SBK throttles are 'pull only' (one cable) without a return cable. . . . .

Thanks for any info

The 748/916/996/998 should be a single cable, and is (for the most part) just like the monster's part.  No extra room there.

You got pics of your set up?
