I'm in the same boat as you are, you know getting old etc. what I did at first was to buy some bar risers but I wasn't to keen on the look so I then bought a pair of rizoma tapered bars, you have to tease the wiring and reroute the pipes but boy what a difference it makes to the riding position. Since I did my S4Rs I've now done my hypermotard and a few other bikes for my friends who all say that their bikes are alot more comfortable to ride, hope this is of some help.. [moto]

Not only ~2 inches up (depending on rotation), but as important... swept back quite a bit, which relaxes your wrist/elbow/shoulder arch.
Minor warning is that a more upright riding position will make an already front-light Monster a little more so.

If you're up at 08 and posting, I'd say you're already in trouble  ;D

After riding a sportbike for a couple hundred miles, the standard Monster feels so good I've never even thought of needing to change it.

Hey...

I was in the same boat, and have the same bike as you.  I have a MV Agusta Brutale bar which is a direct fit for sale.  The bar is both higher and more set-back, and doesn't require any mods in terms of longer cables, etc.  (Barely).   [cheeky]  It also preserves the look of the bike...still looks sporty, but much more comfy.

If you're interested, drop me a pm.  You can search my older posts and likely find pics.  It was basically installed, ridden, and removed.  New condition.

Good luck.
