I've heard it is not a direct fit....
Something to do with the bucket being a little larger  Huh?

Anyone done this?

(for example Chris at DesmoWorld himself?)

Exactly. Bolts holes are the same thread and size (M8). Its a completely new headlight, not just the lens. Included is the bucket, reflector, ring and glass. Uses the same bulb size (H4) though I have put in a HID (H4 kit). The ring attaches slightly different, so you can't swap parts back and forth from the stock headlight to the new one, such as a DP carbon fiber bucket (a shame, because it would look good with all the carbon nonsense i've got on the bike).

<snip>

If you haven't worked with Chris at Desmoworld before, he's a pleasure to work with.

I just mounted this last week. I'm a newbie and it took me 15 minutes to put in place. On my 695 there was a little bit of space between the brackets on the bike and the headlight bucket so it would have been nice with a pair of spacers but works well without. The hole for the cables in the back doesn't have a "lid" but again is not a big issue.

I strongly recommend maing the ring dark instead of chrome for any Monster frame color Wink I'll post some pics of my beauty as soon as I get time for it.

I bought some lexan circles pre-cut off ebay for fairly cheap.  After screwing around with the oven, temps, and a fixture, I got the sag where I wanted it.

For $80, it might have been worth it to just buy the thing....then again, I can say "I made that"

+1 The fact that they do business here would suggest they would be smart enough to have an option for english on thier site. No?

 I have visited their site on quite a few occasions to look for stuff and I always get frustrated and don't bother ordering anything from them because I can't find what I'm looking for BECASUE I DON'T SPEAK make the beast with two backsING GERMAN!!!  bang head

I guess those 4 years I spent in Germany paid off  drink.  I learned enough German that I can navigate the Desmoworld website pretty easily.  I have bought several things from them and I like looking for Monster bits you don't normally see for sale over here.  The service is great too.
