This is Ray Payne's 1998 996, he says he had the idea for the color before the manufacturer beat him to it!

He's spent a small fortune getting this little beaut back in order, lets congratulate him!

Also got the opportunity to ride a 996 for the first time recently.  Man, it's seems to hit harder than my 848, and was a more visceral experience all around with the noise from the pipes and the clutch.  The 848 is wicked refined, the 996 is a mechanical bull!  I've always said I need to get a 916/996/998 someday, and that ride just confirmed it!

Erik and Dave here at the shop seem to agree that the 848 would out perform the 996.  I still want one of those bikes though!

Wow - that's great-looking. Well, they both are, but I really like that 996.

I still haven't seen a color I absolutely hate on a duc. Orange with black tiger stripes comes close, though.

White has always seemed to me to be vastly underrated. Perhaps the 848 and 696 will reverse that as well as the "Ducatis are red" fiction.

I was saying I see too many dizamn white 848's on the road.  Not to worry though, Duc900sp will have his so tricked out by the end of the year, it'll be easy to tell it's not mine!

I've recently taken small yet significant steps to set mine apart from the pack too.  It doesn't look TOO stock anymore!

Did you add those NOS stickers you were looking at? You know those will get you under 10sec. in the 1/4 mile.
