Nova Scotia and Hurricane Earl

 Well I was planning a seven day trip to Nova Scotia and the Cabot trail, but It looks like Earl is going to complicate things.  So it looks like my wife and I are going to leave Maine on Sunday to start the trip. Weather and road conditions permitting.
Any advice on "must" see spots. Planning on two days for the trail. Everything else is kind of open ended.  [moto] [moto]

Unsure for NS, but if you want to try another province for your next trip, northern Quebec and Ontario have some killer roads.  I prefer Ontario but im biased cus i live here

Yeah, Earl is going to make a mess.

Our local Ducati club (East Coast Ducati Club) was planning a group ride from Halifax to Digby for the Wharf Rat Rally on Saturday but our ride will likely be cancelled. Too bad as we were going to have a decent turnout of Ducs for it.

I hope your Sunday departure from Maine brings you great weather. Next week is supposed to be very nice here in NS. When you're passing through Truro feel free to shoot me a PM. That's where I'm located. I'd be happy to grab a coffee with you, or help out if you need anything.

You might try to get in some whale watching... that's a fun way to spend a few hours. Fortress Louisbourg is interesting if you're a history buff. Similarly the Alexander Graham Bell museum in Baddeck. Other than that, just enjoy the scenery, twisty roads, and seafood.

Yeah, Saturday's cancelled ride is a bummer but we might still try to make the run down on Sunday instead. We'll see...

As for relatively inexpensive accomodations in or near Truro, here are a few recommendations. Rates are going to be at peak right now unfortunately regardless of where you stay. However, if you shop around you'll likely see quite a variation in room prices.

Scotia Pine Campground - http://www.scotiapine.ca/ - the only camp ground within a short drive from Truro
Best Western Glengarry - http://www.bestwesternatlantic.com/hotels/best-western-glengarry-hotel/ - downtown location, restaurant, bar
Willow Bend - - fairly downtown, friends who've stayed here liked it
Belgravia B&B - - downtown, unique home
