That's pretty funny they were talking about it... They probably hate me for having to tow it a second time.

Lets hope I get it back in less than 2 weeks. I have now been without a bike for 3 weeks and it really sucks. I am missing out on the best weather of the year.

Ahks

Hmm... If karma has been kicking your ass this bad perhaps you should play the lotto. It has to balance out eventually :)

Nah, I think they were just arranging the tow or something.

I feel ya.  Your bike can hang out with my bike.  It's been sitting there waiting for parts from my wife's little mishap for 3+ weeks.  I think the rest of the parts will be in this week, so hopefully I'll be back on the road early next week.

Haha, I'm sure they are keeping each other company..

Do you know if they store service bikes indoors? When I got my cover back from them it had bird crap on it.

Today I had the same problem. Trans stuck in second gear. It was raining.. so after the trans. stuck i pulled over and waited the rain. I was already calling Ducati but since my 696 have no longer assistance road I just waited the rain. After 20 minutes i checked the pedal and magically was fine! I presume that the bike overheated even though the temp. was normal and the pedal stuck down.
Well, im happy that I came back home safely and with the bike riding fine but I will change the oil and filter anyway.

Weird that it worked after a few minutes. I was not so lucky. Got the bike back today and it has been running GREAT> so far no more shifting issues.

After a "recall kit" was installed to correct the over-travel issue of the shifter and everything was adjusted my bike no longer jumps when dropping into first. It is also more quiet when shifting.

Hopefully this problem is solved.

My wife got a shift kit installed on her M796 and I thought this problem is unique to that particular model (it was difficult to shift gears and at times the neutral lap didn't work in the cockpit although shift was in neutral). Now, the kit fixed it all. Do all new monster models have the same problem? I am happy with the shifting on my M1100 - do I need to get an update installed as it is still under warranty?
It's lonely in the saddle since the horse has passed away.

From what the dealer told me this is much more common on older monsters. He had never seen this on a 696, though it was a small dealer.

To be honest I would probably call your dealer and ask them to install the kit. It takes 45 minutes to do once the parts come in from Italy. I asked if the rider can contribute to the problem and was told definitely not, it just "happens."

I find it difficult to understand why Ducati has had the same problem with their bike for years and never created a permanent solution.

Bro, Is the shift kit free (kind of recall) or you paid for it? If yes, how much?

Thanks

Bro... hha

Yes it is free and covered under warranty. The question is will they do the warranty install of the kit if no problem is present? That may be your issue.

Specifically, what is in this 'recall kit'?

You know, I looked up the recalls for my bike and this issue was not one of them. The dealer used the word "recall" to describe it as well as "just a parts kit."

He kept saying something about the shifter rotating too far downward past the "stops" and getting stuck. Somehow this kit prevented that. The install of the kit tok <45 minutes and I never got to see the parts. The whole thing seemed a bit off.

This is exactly what my receipt says with product numbers and descriptions (in italian)

Bravo.

Does this mean that as a recall it can be done w/out having the issue present as a precaution?

[thumbsdown] <- I just wanted to use this.
