I will always ride a Ducati

« on: September 06, 2010, 06:49:36 PM »

A guy of the ducaticlub wants to swap our bikes, I have a Monster 796 and he has a 848, do I change? Never rode a Superbike, always a naked bike. I prefer a Monster or a Hypermotard but I am curious about the driving experience with a 848.

What do you mean "swap"? For a weekend? For keeps?

Swap for a weekend to see if you like it.

If you don't, then give it back.

I find it disturbing that you're imagining me in a sauna, never mind the teletubbie aspect of it

I like Junkie of Bacon's idea. Test spin. They are completely different animals. Is he a friend? As in, do you personally know him. You mentioned him as a"guy" in your post as opposed to a friend. Maybe you could take the test spin together and swap your ideas and comments along the way. Also, that way if you really don't know each other you both can keep an eye on your bikes and see how the other guy is riding them. A little up front trust. waytogo

Do it. Then sell the 848 if you don't like, buy another 796, and a half ton of  bacon with the spare cash.

Question - are both your bike and his 848 paid off?

Doesn't matter, the loan stays with the person who begins it.
You still pay the loan off even when your bike is sold to a other person.

Btw got the 848 now, damn it goes fast, but gonna change it next week again, for a Hypermotard 1100s Smiley

Why didn't you just test ride the Ducati line before you got your Monster?

After 3 beers, I'd say the 4th tends to be from pretty much the same brew   chug  ...unless of course someone offers you a more expensive one, which makes you think "hmm... could be tastier, I'll give it a try...", as was the case of our friend Edward  Wink

Unfortunately the day has yet to come where a guy rolls up next to us and says "hey you wanna swap your Civic for my M3?"

tap tap tap...I'm still waiting.... Undecided

sometimes you got to have some luck, I do miss my Monster, but I've got more expensive bike to change when I will go for a Monster 1100s or a SFs.  Grin I'll will definitely go back to a monster but not right now, gonna have some fun with the 848 and after that with a HM1100s.  waytogo

This just seems odd, who in their right mind would trade their '10 848 for a '10 796? You would be trading down and losing LOTS of cash in the process....

fishy...
