I need to replace my stock 696 handlebar since it was bent.  So, this seems like the perfect time to upgrade.  I never really had a problem with the stock bar other than the way it looks; I want a black bar.  Beyond that, I really don't have any criteria.  It seems like most of the replacement bars are more swept back and/or have a higher rise than the stock bar.  I never felt like I needed more rise, so what is the advantage of the bars being more swept back?  Secondly, does anyone have any bar recommendations?  Thanks!

I got the Rizoma conical bars in black.  It makes the bike look MUCH better than the stock chrome bars did.

As for the benefits... It gives me a more comfortable grip/position. My wrists feel more relaxed with these bars than the stock.  You can rotate them to suit your preference. Yes, its a bit higher but not that much. You'll enjoy them.

Yeah, I was looking at those.  You had to get the handlebar adapter, right?  Since these bars are thicker in diameter, did you notice any reduction in road vibration?

Yeah, I had to get the risers to go with them.  As for the reduction in vibration, I didn't feel much with the stock. I don't feel anything with these (I still have the stock grips).

Oh, also... if you do get the Rizoma's, be sure to measure three times before you drill the holes.  I almost ruined my bars by being lazy.  Tongue

The bar actually looks good in person. Especially when you hold it up next to the stock ones.
