I am interested to know if you wear the Dainese Safety Jacket V if you feel that it protects your Ribs  ?  Has anyone wearing this Safety jacket been involved in a crash and how did you survive the crash ( any broken bones, which bones ) how fast were you going and what type of crash was it i.e. single bike , got run into, etc. Thanks for your input.

I wear it, but thankfully have not been down in it yet. When I was making my decision on what jacket to purchase noting felt more solid than the safety jacket under whatever I was purchasing. I feel it does give some chest protection. It does a good job of immobilizing the upper body with the back plate, kidney belt and chest plate which I think could help significantly in an accident, but I too would be interested to hear from someone with experience in an a crash.

I use something similar from T-Pro:
http://www.johnsonleather.com/Forcefield_Extreme_Harness_Adventure.htm

It fits well and is comfortable, but the chest protector adds bulk and won't work with all jackets.  For example, I cannot get it to work with Dainese, but it works well with my 10 year old Vanson.  Never been down in them but T-Pro are well reviewed.

You will more than likely have to go up a size in the jacket if you plan on wearing the Safety Jacket under it.  Also be warned that it may feel slightly akward at first if you are wearing a Dainese jacket with the external thermoformed armor.  Any other jacket will work beautifully if you remove the armor in the leather and wear it over the Safety Jacket.

The neck protection is unique and that will be much appreciated. I am anxiously awaiting the Jacket's arrival in the next day or two.

I actually wore it yesterday under one of my Dainese Santa Monica Leather Jackets and although it was snug it wasn't so uncomfortablr that 96 miles through the "Hills " was a bother.

I bought the jacket and the vest at the same time so I don't have a reference. Sorry.

Hey I bought the Dainese Safety (Summer) Jacket from Cyclegear.com and it's awesome. I'm in year-round warm weather (Panama) so it works nice. Very ventilated (mesh). It works great with my (Perforated) Ducati Corse leathers (by Dainese). I use a 58 (EUR) in those and the Dainese jacket allows me the flexibility to remove the elbow and shoulder armor and just wear the mesh underneath the leathers (no bulk or heat) with the spine protector (very good quality). It takes seconds. Remember the leathers also have elbow and shoulder armor.

I already took it on the road on a late morning/noon 3 hour ride to the countryside and it passed the test. I was wearing it underneath a soccer jersey so a good slide would have done me in, but I felt more protected than wearing nothing. My leathers, even perforated, would have killed me at noon.  Cool
